  • Expression of Interest

to lead 2022 programs, projects, events, gatherings, ideas and other activities
  • Get involved. Be Part of Things.

Our vision is that when people think of the Riverland, they think quirky and creative experiences in the same way that when people think of Melbourne, they think of fancy coffee. Our mission is to nurture a creative and connected generation of doers in the Riverland region of South Australia.  We organise projects, events, gatherings, meetings, workshops, mentoring and everything in between to achieve this mission. We present quirky, unique and memorable experiences created and curated by Riverland artists and thinkers: audio walking tours, immersive theatre, collaborative writing projects, video game jams, intimate concerts and creative based workshop tasters.

Our space and programming reflects the specific tastes, interests and aspirations of Riverlanders looking for weird, wonderful and quirky experiences. We operate from Hawdon Chambers on the main-street of Barmera and make our space available for hire, as well as offering co-working desks. We also have a virtual hub using Mighty Networks.

Part of Things was founded in 2019 by award winning Riverland writer, creative producer and community organiser Alysha Herrmann, with practical and moral support from Nic Tubb, Ella Winnall, Brianna Obst, Shay Leach and other Riverland champions. Part of Things has always been envisioned as something that could be community owned, and in 2022, we will be actively working towards developing a shared ownership structure for the future. Let us know if this is something you want to be part of.

We are small in scale so can't do everything, but everything we do, we do with love.

This form is an invitation for anyone in and outside of the Riverland who would like to organise and present any kind of activity under the umbrella of Part of Things. This could be workshops, events, gatherings, projects, residencies and anything else you can imagine that aligns with and supports the Part of Things vision.

Expressions of Interest will remain open on a rolling basis until we reach capacity.

  • Your idea at Part of Things for 2022.

Don't worry if your idea is still small or not fully developed, just tell us as much detail about what you do know. Your idea might be a once-off (a one-day festival) or something regular (a weekly workshop). It might be open to others (like a community workshop) or just for you (like a writing residency).

Your idea and your expression of interest doesn't need to be perfect. Progress over perfection! Done is always better than perfect. This form is just the start of a conversation to bring your idea/s to life.

  • Support Material

Please attach any support material that will help us understand what you want to do at Part of Things. This could include a copy of your resume or bio, a support letter from someone who knows you well, a creative response, a timeline or project plan, a link to similar projects or anything else that tells us why & how your idea will be a good fit at Part of Things. If submitting URLs, please include a word doc with an explanation of the URLs and how they relate to your idea.

We are keen to support as many ideas as possible and the amount of support we can provide will vary depending on the scope/scale of your idea.
