COURSE COMPOSITION: The course is face-to-face with the instructor or delivered online using Brightspace D2L online platform. Each course is divided into modules. Each module varies in duration. However, for attendance make-up purposes, the general rule of every 1-3 hours of instruction equals one module. Students will participate in open discussions, active note-taking, gamified review, and real-world application scenarios.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Students must be present for no less than 100% of the course’s instructional contact hours and successfully pass any exams or quizzes required. Students must have access to a computer and internet outside of the classroom.
Students will be required to complete quizzes outside of the scheduled class time.
Students taking a Web-Enhanced (online) course should:

Be familiar with and able to use computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and an internet browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox.

Have access to a computer with a camera. Students are required to be on camera during
the entire duration of the scheduled classes.
If the student's face is not on camera, the student will be recorded as absent for the duration of the class.

Be able to save files in various formats and attach them to an email or upload them to D2L.

Be able to perform internet searches, use e-mail, chat, and discussion boards.

Be able to study independently, be self-disciplined, and have good study and time-management skills.
COURSE PASS / FAIL: Attendance records will be kept and submitted to Lumens by the instructor. Exam results will be graded and recorded by the instructor or automatically if test is proctored online. Students must pass each exam required with a minimum score of 70%. The instructor will enter the grades and attendance, into Lumens, no later than three days after the last class date. Students will receive a grade of “Successful” or “Unsuccessful” for each real estate course.
TESTING AND GRADING INFORMATION:
First-year Sales: Real Estate Pre-Licensing Course (60 Hours)
This class includes two (2) final exams. An exam for the National portion of the content and a South Carolina exam. This exam is proctored remotely using Honorlock and D2L. A minimum score of 70 in each exam is required to pass the class. Students must complete ALL quizzes and Mid-term exams prior to the final exams. Final exams will NOT be released unless this requirement is met.
Advanced Principles of Real Estate (30 Hours)
This class includes a final exam at the end of each unit. There are a total of (5) five exams. Each exam is proctored remotely using Honorlock and D2L. A minimum score of 70 in each exam is required to pass the class.
Make-up Classes/Exams:

Students who miss any part of a 3-hour module will be able to make up that time by attending the same module in a later session offered. The cost to make-up missed attendance is $25 per module. (1-3 hours of instruction = 1 module).
It is the student’s responsibility to register for the attendance make-up sessions and provide proof of payment to the instructor.
Students may sit for the end of course exam but if student passes the esams will not receive a certificate of completion until the attendance requirements have been met.

Students who need to make-up/retake an end of course exam may take the exam
no later than one (1) week
after the end date of the unit being tested.

Students will only be allowed ONE complementary retake exam attempt to secure successful completion of the course. If a student fails the retake exam for the "First Year Sales" class, the student will have the opportunity to sign up for a review session and take the exam a third time. The fee for this review and retake is $49. If the student fails the exam at their third attempt, the student will be required to retake the course by re-registering and paying full tuition.

If the student fails the retake exam for one of the units for the "Advanced Principles" class, then the student will only have to retake that portion of the course. The fee for the retake exam is

Grades will be noted as “Unsuccessful” or “Incomplete” until the attendance hours and/or exam have been successfully completed. The instructor or a member of the York Technical College’s Operations team will convert the grade to “Successful” no later than three (3) days after the student has successfully completed the make-up opportunities.
Materials: An electronic copy of the active note-taking guide and any Real Estate documents used for instruction/discussion will be issued to every student as part of their tuition. Students may use the active note-taking guide during instruction time or as a study aide in conjunction with their textbook. A hard copy of these materials is available for purchase at the York Technical College bookstore or online through the bookstore’s website.
