We are very excited to be opening up our virtual doors again to you all! The EUSEA Hot Pot is back on the boil, but what ingredients are we throwing in this time?
On June 4th we are inviting the COST Cross-Cutting Activity (CCA) on Science Communication into the kitchen for an exciting collaboration.
The aim of this interactive Hot Pot is to explore lessons learned, share reflections and co-create practical recommendations for science communication and public engagement strategies derived from the global pandemic. The Hot Pot will build on the expertise that was shared in the CCA webinar on ‘Science communication in times of COVID-19’ and subsequent CCA publication ‘Communicating science in times of COVID-19’.
After introductory remarks from Ms Cissi Billgren Askwall, President of the EUSEA, and Prof. David Budtz Pedersen, Chair of the COST CCA on science communication, the hotpot will feature contributions from:
Prof. Dr Marcel Tanner, President of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences. Reflections on Science Engagement and Policy Making in Times of COVID and Beyond.
Dr Sarah Foxen, Knowledge Exchange Lead at the UK Parliament. A case study featuring the science communication activities of the Knowledge Exchange Unit within the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) at the UK Parliament.
Dr Marcin Lewinski, Chair of COST Action ‘European network for argumentation and public policy analysis – APPLY, and Dr Fabio Paglieri, Leader of the Action's Working Group on Designing Public Argumentation and Policymaking. How to manage risk and uncertainty via public argumentation, with a special focus on how science communication and public policy have often been mismanaged in the case of COVID-19 vaccination campaigns across Europe.
It is a jam-packed Hot Pot this time! (although we do not necessarily recommend adding jam to your Hot Pot)
Join us and add a little pinch of what you think.
The event will take place over Zoom on Friday, 4 June 2021 from 12:00 to 14:00 CEST. We will send you a link to the Hotpot in advance of the event.
