HANDY TIPS
Organise
When setting up transition, only take the essentials in with you. This will help you get in and out of transition quicker with minimal fuss and stress!
Visualise
Transition can often be a busy and sometimes confusing place on event day. Make sure you know your swim exit, bike out & in and run out to help gain those precious seconds! Familiarise yourself with the one-way system and look out for something visual near your bike slot, making it easy to spot when you are running into transition.
Prepare
Make sure your bike is set up in the right gear. You don’t want to be left struggling in the first few meters of the event.
While participants have access to dedicated changing facilities at the Leisure Centre from 7:15am onwards, we highly recommend arriving changed for the swim. This will allow you to take off no longer needed layers in the transition zone and help with social distancing and hygiene rules. Please only keep the gear you need for the cycle and run leg in the transition zone as space is limited. Store unnecessary kit in your car or near registration at you own risk.
Please proceed through the finish arch, keeping the finish area clear for other participants to run in. Make sure you take off your chip and place it in the bucket provided. While we would love to hand you your well deserved medal personally, we have opted to keep them individually wrapped for you to pick up on a table in the finish area to comply with hygiene and social distancing rules.
There will be water available at the finish area. Please use it to refill your own bike bottle to limit any waste. Hot and cold drinks, as well as food will be available to purchase near the finish.
Presentations will be outside at the finish area at approximately 12:00pm (adults) and 5:00pm (juniors) with prizes awarded to the 1st to 3rd place winners, male and female, in the following age groups (age as of 31-Dec of participating year):
You will receive a chip-timing device for the duration of the race. Competitors must wear their allocated chip on their left ankle throughout the event and ensure they place it in the bucket provided at the end of the race. Lost chips are subject to a £20 fee to replenish our stock.
Live results will not be available on site due to social distancing rules. We will upload all timings within 24h of the event to intotri.com/cornish-tri
Spectators are most welcome at IntoTRI’s Cornish Tri Series. However, while social distancing measures are in place to reduce the spread of Covid-19, spectator access is limited to targeted 'spectator zones' on site. In Wadebridge, the specatator zone has a view over the transition and finish area, as well as the junior run course (see map in registration section above). For safety and security reasons spectators can NOT enter the following areas:
IntoTRI’s Cornish Tri Series is staged on open roads (adult event only). Please be mindful of other road users and pedestrians/cyclists. Marshals are placed at strategic points to ensure your safety and keep the impact on other road users to a minimum. Please follow their directions at all times, they are there to make the event enjoyable and safe for all, not to prevent PBs.
Getting Help
If you have any problems whilst out on the course, please stay where you are and tell the next competitor that you see. We will get out to you as soon as possible and bring both you and/or your bike back to the leisure centre. If you see a competitor in trouble please notify a marshal who will be in contact with the organiser via mobile phone.
Withdrawal
If you withdraw from the event at any time, please let the event director know as we may think that you are still out on the course and will go to search for you. Contact details: Michael Burkert

Please familiarise yourself with the briefing notes below, which replace the mandatory race briefing on site to facilitate social distancing rules. Any last minute announcements from the race director will be displayed on a notice board at the rear entry of the sports hall on race day, which you will pass on your way to start your swim.
The Scootathlon is a fun, non-timed introduction to intoTRI’s Mini Tri events, replacing the traditional swim with a scoot. To help with social distancing, we are using a rolling start, limiting the number of children on course to max 15. Parents are encouraged to support their children in a socially distanced area to change from run to sccot and scoot to run.
Please take your child's scooter out of the transition zone and proceed to the start location 10min before the start of the event.
THE RULES
THE COURSE
The first Run and Scoot routes follow a flat, fully tarmacked course on closed roads. Children run 1x lap of the course before picking up their scooter from their parents, who will be waiting in a dedicated area. After scooting 1x lap, participants drop off scooters with their parents and head out for a 400m run on Wadebridge School’s playing field to the finish, where they can collect their well deserved medal. Marshals will be at hand to direct your children around the course.
COURSE MAPS (interactive)
Weather Alert: The meeting point for the start of the scootathlon will remain the same as originally planned. The final run to the finish will also remain unchanged. We will make a judgement call on Sunday morning whether to leave the scoot (and first run) course as planned or scoot the other way towards Wadebridge School, which offeres a lot more shelter from the elements. Either way, it is a simple out and back course with a wide turning radius at the end.
AT HOME
Body-mark yourself for the swim at home! Please use a marker pen to write your race number on the back of your left hand.

SWIM PROCEDURE
Competitors will be placed in starting waves according to their estimated swim time. Starting in the water (strictly no diving), two participants share a double lane, swimming side by side and staying on their side of the lane throughout the swim. SWIM PROCEDURE: 8-14Y
Competitors will be placed in starting waves according to their age group and estimated swim time. Starting in the water (strictly no diving), participants will be set off in 15 sec intervals (3 sec countdown), snaking through the pool for their allocated swim distance. Starting on one side of the pool (or the middle, depending on the distance), participants swim up one lane, duck under the lane rope and swim down the next lane, duck under the rope and so forth, exiting the pool on the other side. Note: 11/12y and 13/14y olds will swim each lane twice (up and down) before ducking under the rope.
To overtake, tap the feet of the swimmer in front of you and proceed to overtake swiftly on the right. If your feet are being tapped, proceed at your pace staying left and let the faster swimmer pass.

SWIM RULES
SWIM TO BIKE TRANSITION
Please obey the no running rule poolside when leaving the water and exit the pool area via the designated route. The time will be taken at transition so the run to transition will be included in your swim time.
Note: We are not operating a show drop zone outside the pool area this year
RELAY TEAMS
As there will be no bike leg due to adverse weather conditions, relay teams will complete a swim and 2x runs. The hand over from swim to the first run will be in the transition zone. Once the timing chip has been handed over, please fasten it to the runner's left ankle. The hand-over from the 1st runner to the 2nd runner is at the turnoff from the run course to the finish line. The swimmer and 1st runner can join the 2nd runner on the final approach to the finish and cross the line together.
Distance - Little Camel: 2.5k
After a 0.75k downhill stretch to Wadebridge’s historic bridge and town center, the out and back route follows the Camel Trail to the turning point at 1.25k.
Note: While we have taken every care to mark the course with pink signs, competitors are responsible for negotiating the route correctly, safely and within the rules of the road. Marshals along the course do NOT have the authority to stop traffic.
Distance - Big Camel: 4.6k
After a 0.75k downhill stretch to Wadebridge’s historic bridge and town center, the out and back route follows the Camel Trail to the turning point at 2.3k.

The Mini Tri run route follows a multi lap course onto and around Wadebridge School’s sports field. Please note, it is the child’s responsibility to know the route they are required to complete.
Note: There will be marshals at hand at key points along the course; however it is the child’s responsibility to know the route. All children will need to complete the appropriate number of laps according to their age before crossing the finish line.
Please note, we will NOT hand out lap bands to help with lap counting for the time being due to increased Covid-19 hygiene standards and to maintain social distancing between marshals and athletes.
