    Thank you for submitting a nomination for the 2025 Annual Awards. Please include all relevant information and elaborate on all responses to assist the Awards Committee in selecting the recipients.   • Distinguished Bar Service Award (Non-Lawyer):

    Recognizes non-lawyers who have provided valuable service and contributions to the legal profession over a significant period of time.

    1. Provide specific examples of service/contributions.

    2. In what ways did they affect the legal profession.

    3. State the period of time.

  • Excellence in Well-Being Award

    Many individuals have made significant contributions to the improvement of legal profession well-being to include destigmatizing mental health, strengthening resiliency and creating a synergic approach to work and life. This new award was created to recognize an individual or organization that has made an outstanding positive contribution to the New Mexico legal community’s well-being. As the State Bar of New Mexico is committed to improving the health and wellness of New Mexico’s legal community, we strongly encourage self-nominations and peer nominations for any lawyer, judge, or non-lawyer working in some capacity with the NM legal community.

    Provide examples:

                1.         Significant contributions to the legal profession.
                2.         Outstanding positive contribution to the legal community’s well-being.

  • Judge Sarah M. Singleton Distinguished Service Award:

    Recognizes attorneys who have provided valuable service and contributions to the legal profession, the State Bar of New Mexico and the public over a significant period of time.

    Provide examples:

    1. Service and contributions to the legal profession.
    2. Service and contributions to the State Bar.
    3. Service and contributions to the public.
    4. State the period of time.

     

  • Justice Pamela B. Minzner Professionalism Award:

    Recognizes attorneys and/or judges who, over long and distinguished legal careers, have by their ethical and personal conduct exemplified for their fellow attorneys the epitome of professionalism.

    1. Describe the long and distinguished legal career.

    2. Provide examples of how they have exemplified ethical and personal conduct that is the epitome of professionalism for their fellow attorneys.

     

  • Justice Pamela B. Minzner Outstanding Women’s Advocacy Award (New Award):

    Recognizes attorneys who have provided legal assistance to women who are unrepresented or underserved, or advocated for causes that will benefit and/or further the rights of women within the previous calendar year.  This award is not a lifetime achievement award; it is an award for an attorney who is currently doing the work and pushing the status of women forward.

    1. Describe the legal assistance provided to women who are unrepresented or underserved.

    2. Provide examples of how they have advocated for causes that will benefit and/or further the rights of women.

     

     

  • Outstanding Legal Organization or Program Award:

    Recognizes outstanding or extraordinary law-related organizations or programs that serve the legal profession and the public.

    Provide examples:

    1. How is the law-related organization or program outstanding or extraordinary.

    2. How it serves the legal profession and the public.

  • Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year Award:

    Awarded to attorneys who have, during the formative stages of their legal careers by their ethical and personal conduct, exemplified for their fellow attorneys the epitome of professionalism; nominee has demonstrated commitment to clients’ causes and to public service, enhancing the image of the legal profession in the eyes of the public; nominee must have been admitted to the practice of law in any state for ten (10) years or less.

    Provide examples:

    1. How they have exemplified the epitome of professionalism.

    2. Demonstrated a commitment to clients’ causes.

    3. List their public service.

    4. How they enhanced the image of the legal profession in the eyes of the public.

     

  • Robert H. LaFollette Pro Bono Award:

    Presented to an attorney who has made an exemplary contribution of time and effort, without compensation, to provide legal assistance over his or her career to people who could not afford the assistance of an attorney.

    1. Provide examples of exemplary contribution of time and effort, without compensation, to provide legal assistance.

    2. For what period of time.

  • Seth D. Montgomery Distinguished Judicial Service Award:

    Recognizes judges who have distinguished themselves through long and exemplary service on the bench and who have significantly advanced the administration of justice or improved the relations between the bench and the bar; generally given to judges who have retired or soon will be retiring.

    Provide examples: 

    1. How they have distinguished themselves.

    2. Describe their long and exemplary service on the bench.

    3. How they have advanced the administration of justice.

    4. How they have improved the relations between the bench and the bar.
