Bio - Rabbi Zev Kahn The Rugby Rabbi
Rabbi Zev Kahn is better known as the "Rugby Rabbi" from his days as an Israel Maccabi Games Gold Medalist in 1985 and 1989. Originally from Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Rabbi Kahn spent six years at Ohr Somayach yeshiva in Jerusalem, where he received his rabbinic ordination. Rabbi Kahn and his wife, Hilary, originally from LA, moved to Chicago in 1998 to work for the Chicago Community Kollel. In 2005 Rabbi Kahn founded JET - Jewish Education Team, an independent outreach organization that provides Jewish educational programs at University of Illinois - Urbana/ Champaign and other campuses in Illinois. JET also runs programs for young professionals and adults.
One of JET's most successful programs is the Positive Speech Project, which won an international award at the Olami Summit in England in 2019.
The Kahns have four children and one grandchild and live in West Rogers Park, Chicago
