ACMS recognizes the importance of connecting doctors to one another who might need the input of somebody who’s “been that way before.” The potential benefits to the mentee are obvious. The benefits to the mentor are invigoration by passing along useful information to another colleague, feeling the glow of being sagacious, connecting with newer physicians, etc. We are now launching a member-only portal to provide some self-directed connections between physicians, NPs, and PAs, depending on the needs of mentees. Typically, mentoring programs in various medical schools, residencies, practice groups or hospitals might be more formalized relationships, but this is not our intent. These would more likely be ad hoc, short-term connections and allow the relationship to organically grow on its own into whatever is mutually and professionally beneficial.
ACMS recognizes the importance of members finding right-brain hobbies that replenish their souls as a protective means against the rigors of practicing medicine. These activities are also great ways to connect with other members over common interests.
Ultimately, we are working to launch a member’s artistic showcase to put on display some of the interesting things they are involved in and as a means of edifying the ACMS community. Once we establish the showcase, we will feature artwork in our newsletter, interview artists about their work, and maybe even host an art and wine fundraising show and auction in the future. Private member forums about art might also get launched.
You can respond below if you want to connect with others over creative arts and/or interested in showcasing some of your work on our website.
Over the past couple of year's we have been trying to connect ACMS members over common extra-curricular activities. We won't be planning any of those events or get-togethers and will leave the connecting up to you with other members.
