Reason for transportation:
St. Fiacres Catholic Primary school does not offer a before school care program. Therefore children from St. Fiacres who require care before school can be enrolled at Leichhardt OOSH and are transported to St. Fiacres Catholic Primary School before the start of school.
When will children be transported:
On any day, a St. Fiacres child is booked into before school care at LOOSH they will be required to be transported to St. Fiacres Catholic Primary School, Children and Educators will depart from LOOSH at 8:15 am.
Duration of Transport:
Transport from Leichhardt Public School to St. Fiacres Catholic Primary School will take up to 20 minutes.
Staff and children will depart from Leichhardt Public School around 8:15 am with children arriving at St. Fiacres Catholic Primary School by approximately 8:30 am.
Transport from:
Leichhardt Public School 101 - 103 Norton St Leichhardt
Children will be collected at the Leichhardt Public School site. The appointed pick-up location will be the inside of the Marion Street Gate between blocks A and E, next to the Gate Greeter table.
Transport to:
St. Fiacres Catholic Primary School 98 Catherine St Leichhardt
Children will be transported to the St Fiacres Primary School site. The appointed drop off location will be the Catherine Street entrance gate next to the school office where a member of the school staff will be waiting to collect the children.
Means of Transport:
The children will be walking between destinations.
Safety Restraints:
No seat belts or safety restraints will be required as children will be walking.
Anticipated number of children:
Between 1 and 8 children dependent on bookings.
Anticipated number of educators to accompany and supervise:
One educator or two where possible
Proposed route: (Map available upon request)
1. Meet at the Gate Greeter station at the Marion Street gate in between block A and E.
2. Exit the premises through this gate onto the Marion Street footpath.
3. Walk east down Marion Street until reaching Balmain Rd.
4. Ensure children stop 2 meters back from the traffic light and cross as a group only when the pedestrian light is green.
5. Continue on Leichhardt St (Marion St becomes Leichhardt St east of Balmain Rd)
6. At the roundabout at McKenzie St, turn right, remaining on the footpath.
7. Continue south on McKenzie St, staying on the footpath, until halfway up the street. At this point the educator will wait until the road is safely clear in both directions and stand in the middle of the road. The educator will then direct children to cross in front of them to the footpath on the opposite side of the street. Once the children are safely across the street the educator will join them.
8. Continue south on McKenzie Street until reaching the St Fiacres site.
9. Children to enter the school via the Catherine Street entrance gate next to the school office where a member of the school staff will be waiting to collect the children.
