Be on time for work as per rota– be punctual.
Please be aware that you will be working unsociable hours from and between 6:45am and 9:30pm, you will be working weekends and bank holidays.
Always ask permission if you need to use anything that belongs to the service user e.g. their landline or toilet.
Before attending to any service user ensure you read support plan,risk assessments and moving and handling assessment and all necessary documents in the client's electronic profile on Birdie application.
Ensure that you wear the correct uniform colours to work. Black trouser and blue tunic or white / blue polo and black shoes.
Ensure hair is tied in a pony style or is short to avoid being pulled or getting into food.
Ensure nails are short and nail varnish removed- to avoid scratching and tearing.
Avoid unnecessary use of service user’s toilets but if you do need to, please ask for their permission.
Ensure shoe laces tied and wear full feet covering safe shoes to avoid injury from work equipment such as hoist. Always have your shoes on when in clients' houses.
Ensure mobile phones are on silent or vibrate when in SERVICE USER’s house. DO NOT USE YOUR PHONE IN A SERVICE USER’S HOUSE unless its work related. Do not be on social media , do not take any photos or videos for clients or do any voice recordings unless authorised by the Registered manager and if the client has consented.
Remember if the manager has emergency they want to address with you they will call on service user’s landline or call at least twice. You need to first consider the safety of the client before attending to the phone call.
Always communicate in English / language that the client understands when you are with the service users either in their home or during community activities with them.
Always communicate in English when in the presence of other staff members, not to do so is unprofessional and RUDE and will not be tolerated.
Do not attempt to do something you have not been supervised or trained to do or use equipment you have not been shown how to use.
When unsure always ask and FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS AND ENSURE YOU HAVE UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN ASKED TO DO.
If you are being driven it is your responsibility to know where you are going for you shifts unless it’s your first time in the area. You are responsible for ensuring you arrive to clients at specified times on your rota and if there are delays where you are running late you must therefore contact clients inadvance.
Ensure you mobile number is set on private whenever you call service users when you are running late. And there must be no contact between yourslef and the clients out side working times scheduled for you to see them.
You are required to respect and follow directives from your superiors.
Any unreported issues of abuse that you may encounter and do not report means you are accountable.
You are required to comply with daily / weekly COVID-19 testing requirements.
Ensure you understand your contract and company policies.
AS A CARE WORKER YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ADMINISTER MEDICATION WHICH IS A VERY CRITICAL TASK AND THEREFORE YOU MUST ENSURE YOU DO NOT LEAVE A CLIENT WITHOUT ADMINISTERING THEIR MEDICATION.
ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTIONS YOU TAKE AND THOSE YOU DO NOT TAKE (DUTY OF CARE).
