Social Nation in partnership with the Basketball Africa League hosted the creative cocktail at Soy restaurant in Kigali Rwanda on May 28th, 2021 during the historic inaugural season launch.
The evening cocktail was attended by NBA Africa CEO Victor Williams and basketball legends- Dikembe Mutombo, Masai Ujiri, Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, and Ian Mahinmi.
Speaking at the event the president of BAL Amadou Gallo Fall reiterated the potential basketball has to shape Africa’s story through arts and culture.
“Basketball is an art, a way of life and a culture that can unite people across the continent - and this is why we have partnered with the basketball Africa league here in Kigali.” said Samba Bathily, the Founder & CEO of Social Nation Africa.
Social Nation Africa Creatives Cocktail is aimed at creating an environment for artists from all different parts of Africa to foster partnerships and create a sustainable ecosystem - the evening included a live performance by Grammy award winning artist, Mohombi Moupondo- who also empathized the potential music has to speed up partnerships across and foster economic development.
The highlight of the night was a special live performance by Boubou Design, a young Senegalese artist who is causing a sensation on social networks, Boubou’s art was auctioned for $100,000 – making it evident that art can generate revenues.
SNA Kicked off the night with a Kap motion pictures reel by Kunlé Afolayan, a Nigerian film director, and producer.
Also in attendance was South Africa’s ShoMadjozi and various Dj’s to spice up the evening.
For social nation Africa, this event was the beginning of an African story that will be told through the eyes of creatives.
