Entrance Requirements
All students enrolling in grades 1 - 8 from an out-of-county school, private school, or home-school must submit educational records to determine proper grade placement. All high school students and students enrolling from home-school or private school must complete a transcript analysis to determine approval for enrollment. The transcript analysis will include a review of credits attained and grade placement.
Student Expectations
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct as outlined in the handbook and behave with integrity and honesty while participating in an online class.
- Read and acknowledge the district Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) regarding technology and the internet
- Attend mandatory labs/meetings in-person at the designated sites. Such days might be for orientation, pupil accounting, or for proctored tests and exams.
- Complete coursework on time. Students who fall behind will be subject to an intervention process to help them catch up. Students who are consistently behind could be recommended for transfer back to
- Communicate with your online instructor and Learning Coach in a professional and respectful manner.
- Acknowledges that the school district has full and complete access to the work submitted or the comments posted within the online course.
- Agrees to seek help from the online instructor.
Parents/Learning Coach, because you have offered your support of this online experience we would like you to help us and your child by doing the following:
- Assure your child has the necessary materials and internet access to participate in the online classes.
- Provide your child with a safe and appropriate place to work while at home.
- Assure the child has sufficient time in their schedule to work each day in their course.
- Acknowledge you have confirmed the course of study is consistent with the child's graduation plan.
- Become familiar with the means by which you can receive progress reports.
- Become familiar with itsLearning, Edgenuity, Zoom and other online platforms that students will use to attend class and complete work.
- Encourage your child to seek help when needed from their teacher(s
- Assure that all student work is original and only completed by the student.
- Communicate regularly with your child's teachers, counselor, support staff, and school leaders if a concern arises. Parents/Learning Coaches should check their email daily for updates from teachers.
- Have access to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and check it weekly. If you do not have access to the PowerSchool Parent Portal, please contact the SCELA main office at 912.395.5516.

- Attend an orientation session at the start of each academic year.
- Be aware of all course deadlines and pacing guides.
Additional Agreements:
1. All students in grades 1 – 8 must participate in the live sessions as scheduled. Students in grades 6 - 8 may earn the right to work asynchronously by demonstrating the ability to complete coursework on time or ahead of the pacing guide and seek help when needed. Students in grades 6 – 12 that have not demonstrated mastery/proficiency or are struggling to master standards/skills in their assigned courses are required to attend live classes during the established schedule.
2. I understand that it is my responsibility to check my student’s grades in the PowerSchool Parent Portal on a weekly basis.
3. I understand that the main/official form of communication between SCELA teachers, students and parents is email. I will provide SCELA with the email that I check most often.
4. I understand that specific pre-tests, unit assessments, final exams, CollegeBoard, and State mandated testing will require in-person attendance. I will ensure my student’s participation in these required events.
5. I understand that if my child is participating in dual enrollment courses, I will make sure they are attending classes and completing college coursework as needed.
6. I understand that my student must be monitored daily to ensure participation and engagement.
7. I understand that enrollment in Science and Career, Technical, Agricultural Education courses requires participation in periodic/scheduled Learning Labs (grades 9-12). When my student is not able to attend face-to-face Learning Labs, he/she may watch and participate from home and/or view the recordings. Failure to complete labs may result in students not receiving course credit and not being granted an opportunity to take the End of Pathway Assessment for that CTAE pathway.
8. I understand that if my child is not maintaining at least a 70 average in a class/course, it is expected my child will log into the synchronous classes daily for instruction and make progress in their online coursework. Participation in this support structure is required.
9. I understand that if this agreement is not followed or if my student is consistently behind pace in their coursework after interventions are implemented, my student may be recommended for transfer from SCELA to their zoned in-person learning school.
