Trip Information for Participant
The University of Colorado Boulder Outdoor Program operates isolated wilderness overnight outings that include but are not limited to the following activities: rock climbing, backpacking, whitewater rafting/kayaking, backcountry skiing/snowshoeing, mountain biking and hiking alpine peaks. The participant will be expected to carry a pack weighing 55-85 pounds and may hike to altitudes up to 14,000 feet. On most outings students will sleep outdoors, prepare their own meals, and be expected to take care of themselves while under the supervision of trip leaders.
Weather conditions can be extreme with temperatures ranging from approximately 20 to 100+ degrees Fahrenheit. Prolonged rain/snow storms, high winds and intense sunlight are possible. Some trips can be physically demanding; prior physical conditioning is strongly recommended.
In the interest of the personal safety of both the applicant and other course participants, please consider the above description carefully when answering the medical history questions and providing more information to any “Yes” answers.
