Dear Applicant,
Passionate Paws Dog Rescue is super excited you have taken the interest and time to complete this application. If you have any questions regarding the application or fostering in general please contact us via email passionatepawsdogrescue@gmail.com. Passionate Paws board members will determine which dogs in our rescue are eligible for foster care placement based upon experience, current pets, and any additional information received on your application. Passionate Paws Dog Rescue vows to disclose any and all information about said pet prior to sending them into your care. However, dogs pulled from shelters may be a little difficult to do that with only because most of the time the shelter gets no background information on that dog. Our foster coordinator will take each dog into her home upon surrender and do an initial evaluation of the dog’s behavior and personality. This evaluation will help us determine which foster is the best fit for each dog. Passionate Paws will do its best on giving an approximate estimated time a dog shall be in your foster care. This will only be a rough estimate based on the amount of vetting said dog needs. We cannot guarantee a dog will be adopted right away. While in foster care dogs will receive routine vetting at VCA Animal Hospital in Lancaster, OH. This will include vaccinations, microchipping, monthly preventions, and spay/neuter surgeries.
Our expectations from you as a foster are to provide a safe and secure environment for said dog to learn to grow and become more comfortable in a home setting. We do not require you to transport foster dogs to their vet appointments but it would help the board members tremendously if you're able to do so. We ask that you do your very best to help with potty training and basic manners such as sit, down, and stay. We also ask that you practice leash walking with your foster pet. The more time and practice you spend with your foster pet will only allow them to grow into a more adoptable dog! Fosters are not required to try new things with their foster pets such as car rides, dog parks, meeting children, meeting other dogs, public events, etc. but it does allow us to learn more about what said pup does and doesn’t do well. The more we know about our dogs the better! We do require foster dogs to be on leash at all times when not in a fenced area. We also require foster dogs to remain in your care at all times. If short trips/vacations are planned we would like to be notified ahead of time to make arrangements for our dogs.
As fosters you may not promise the dog to anyone or imply that they have a great chance of adopting said dog. Everyone follows the same adoption process. We encourage our fosters to promote foster dogs on their social media and or out in public. We also recommend you direct potential adopters to our website for an application and have a good understanding of our adoption process. You must also understand that as a foster you do not have the right to automatically adopt said dog. Passionate Paws would like fosters to have the first choice of adoption of a foster dog BUT, this decision is to be made prior to the dog being posted for adoption. Please understand that even though dogs are screened prior to coming into your home that makes no guarantees relating to the dog’s health, behavior, or actions. Passionate Paws Dog Rescue is NOT responsible for the health of your own personal pets, property damage, or personal injury suffered by you, other household members, or any third party. You should assume liability to provide adequate controls and prevention of such damage or injury.
