Notes about Fees

1. Swimming NZ membership fees have again increased from last year.
   
   
2. Competitive swimmers:
   • The annual registration period is from 1 July to 30 June the following year.
   • Swimmers may choose to register at any time of the year but will be charged the full regional and national fees.
   • Swimmers cannot enter competitive swim meets until the full membership fee payment has been received.
     
     
3. To allow for new members joining during the year; the KWA fee for "Club" and "Recreational" swimmers reduces on a quarterly, pro-rata basis, to:
   • $80 if joining after 1 Oct
   • $60 if joining after 1 Jan
   • $40 if joining after 1 April
     
     
4. Registration fees are due 20 days from the invoice date, or before the swimmer's first competitive meet takes place. Full registration is only complete when you pay the fee.
   
   
5. Pool Entry is included in the Club Coaching fee.
   
   
6. Only fully paid members are elegible to vote at the Kiwi West Aquatics Club AGM.
   
   
7. The club reserves the right to withdraw coaching/training services from members who fail to pay the club membership fee.

Member Details

SNZ may send you a monthly email newsletter "Freestyler" as well as other general swimming related information from time to time. A copy of SNZ’s constitution is available on the SNZ website.

Clause 1 - Declaration:

1. I declare that all information supplied on the application for membership form is true and correct.
2. I will keep my address and all other personal information up to date with my club, regional association and SNZ by immediately notifying in writing of any changes.
3. I am not aware of any reason why I should not be issued with the membership requested.
4. I understand that upon payment of my membership fee (if any) I will become a member of the club, the region and SNZ and that by paying such fee each year by the due date, I will continue to be a member of my club, the region and SNZ, unless I resign or my membership is terminated.
   
   

Clause 2 - Other Rules: As a member I will:

1. abide by the constitutions, regulations, policies, manuals, guidelines and reasonable directions of the club, the region and SNZ and FINA respectively.
2. abide by the SNZ code of conduct located on the SNZ website www.swimming.org.nz
3. I/We agree the club may film or photograph at training, competitions or club events which material may be used by Kiwi West Aquatics Incorporated for publicity purposes during and after membership of Kiwi West Aquatics Incorporated expires.
   
   

Clause 3 - Termination: I understand that:

1. I may terminate my membership with immediate effect by giving notice at any time.
2. the club, the region or SNZ may terminate my membership with immediate effect in accordance with the provisions relating to this in the SNZ Constitution.
   
   

Clause 4 - Collection of Personal Information. In conformity with the NZ Privacy Act 1993:

1. I consent to the collection of the information requested in this form.
2. I understand that my personal information will be held securely.
3. I will have access to my personal information and be able to make corrections.
4. My personal information will be corrected upon request.
   
   

Clause 5 - Use of Personal Information: I agree that KWA, the KWA Coach, the Swimming Manawatu Center and SNZ, their employees, sub-contractors and agents may use any personal information provided or otherwise held about me (whether or not related or pursuant to this contract) to:

1. Enable the club, the region and SNZ to have a register of their members as required by section 22 of the Incorporated Societies Act 1908 and any other statute, regulation, by-law or other regulatory instrument that requires collection or disclosure of my personal information.
2. Determine the exact number and categories of the members of the club, the region and SNZ.
3. Determine the membership fee payable by the club, the region and SNZ.
4. Determine the interests and nature of the membership at club, region and national level for the purposes of determining which sponsor and/or stakeholders may be appropriate for my club, region and SNZ.
5. Enable my club, region and SNZ to communicate with me and other members about my membership and matters affecting my club, region and SNZ such as their events, activities, seminars including communicating with me through newsletters, emails, texts and other electronic messaging and for this purpose to supply the information to mail houses.
6. Enable my club, region and SNZ to contact me on behalf of sponsors and stakeholders for the purposes of promoting the sponsors or stakeholders’ products and services.
7. Provide coaching services, and communicate with parents and/or swimmers.
8. Any other purpose I agree to in writing.
   
   

Clause 6 - Media Photographs/Video:

1. I agree to be filmed, televised or photographed and otherwise recorded at training or during a competition or swimming event which material may be used by the club, region or SNZ for publicity purposes during and after my membership expires.
2. I understand images of members may be used on SNZ’s websites from time to time and I may request at any time that an image including myself be removed from the website which will be done so at SNZ’s earliest convenience.
   
   

Clause 7 - Club Fees and Charges:

1. I agree to pay all club fees, levies and dues attributable to our membership within 20 days of the invoice date.
2. I understand if fees are not paid on time I may be asked not to swim until the debt is paid.
3. If I leave the club during the membership period I agree:
   1. That I will not receive a refund of my membership fee.
   2. To settle all outstanding payments/invoices to the club.
      
      

Clause 8 - Liability:

1. I will not hold my club, region and SNZ or their respective officers responsible for any claims, losses and expenses which may arise from or in connection with my membership and/or participation in any activity authorised or recognised by my club, region and SNZ except in the case of gross negligence or a wilful act or omission on the part of my club, region and SNZ.
2. I indemnify my club, region and SNZ from all claims, losses and expenses suffered or incurred at any time, occurring as a result of or resulting directly or indirectly from my failure to observe the constitutions, regulations, policies, manuals, guidelines and reasonable directions of my club, region and SNZ respectively.
3. Nothing in these terms will affect my statutory rights as a consumer.

Notes on Parent/Cargiver Commitment Options

1. Fund Raising Activities or Events:
   • This is expected of all our members.
   • A committment to help with the club's major fundraising event(s).
   • These require members to spend time helping out.
     
     
2. Meet Official or Poolside Team Manager. This requires participation at swim meets when your child is competing. This may include:
   • Training to be an official such as a timekeeper.
   • Being Poolside Team Manager (helping ensure swimmers are safe and get to their races at the right time)
   • Volunteer help at swimming meets:
     • Selling meet programs at the door.
     • Helping with drinks and snacks.
       
       
3. Club Committee
   • Participation as a member of our club committee which meets once per month.
   • Key roles are appointed at our AGM, but committee members are welcome any-time of the year.
   • The responsibilites are shared between named positions as well as general committee roles.

Club Uniform

The uniform shirt and swim cap are required uniform for "Competitive" and "Club" members when representing Kiwi West at swim meets. New members are supplied their first cap for free.

Please contact a committee member to help you with organising a team shirt and cap. Sometimes we can loan used uniform shirts for new swimmers.

The club website has a range of other optional branded merchandise items available for any members to order.
