The following are descriptions of all the different events #elliestrong has in a year. Review what each one entails to get a better understanding of the activity and commitment level.
Committee Member: ( Adults 18yrs and older) Meetings are once a month and you attend when you are available, they are typically Tuesday Night at 7:15pm once a month. You help plan events and give your input. As a Committee Member to attend as many events as your schedule allows. Typically, we need all hands-on deck for the annual fundraiser in Feb. and want all committee members there to help unless you have a conflict.
Teen Committee Member: (13yrs - 18yrs) We include our teens in our meetings and ask for their input on our projects. We also ask for assistance on some projects. The teens also act as Ambassadors for the foundation in their school. We require participation in all events they do not have a important schedule conflict.
Toiletry Drive Project: We collect travel toiletries and put together "We Care Bags" for cancer families in the inpatient Lurie Children's Hospital. This project might include collecting toiletries, sorting toiletries, or helping deliver toiletries. This project we collect from Sept – Nov and sort end of Nov or Beginning of December.
Ornaments of Courage Project: This project is Nov - December. You help prep ornaments (Prep - wrap, bag, and organize ornaments) to be distributed to local stores for sale. All proceeds go to a Local Cancer family that is chosen by the committee & Board of Directors.
The Annual #elliestrong Fundraiser: The fundraiser is typically the Saturday before the Super Bowl. We begin working on this project in November. Some typical things this includes are planning, getting donations for Raffle Baskets & Auction Items. We need help get sponsorships, decorate, sell raffle tickets, and work the event.... We have jobs that lead up to the fundraiser, the day fundraiser, and following the event.
Annual Pet Parade: project is typically between April - May, the pet parade is in May on a Sunday late afternoon in downtown Lemont. This event is in honor of Ellie's birthday. We need help running games, setting up, taking down, checking in, and advertising the event
#elliestrong Day: we decorate Lemont with Green bows and RAK yard signs. We also sell #elliestrong t-shirts for this day and all proceeds will go towards #elliestrong scholarship fund for LHS Students. We also work closely with the school as they keep Ellie's memory alive through this go Green Day. This is either May 20th or the closest school day to May 20th (Ellie's Birthday)
#elliestrong Butterfly Garden: Help manage volunteers to water and keep the garden looking nice. Or be a normal visitor that waters and weeds the garden. (May - Aug) Trish Bliss always puts together a sign-up you would just be in contact with her helping her with any needs and also making sure the garden is cared for.
Social Media Coordinator: Help get the word out about events on social media. Keep #elliestrong prevalent on social media
Posters: Putting up posters for different events around town.
