The SHPE Rules of Behavior (Rules) promotes professional development. The Rules explain the type of behavior that all in-person and virtual event participants (including SHPE employees, moderators, attendees, vendors, sponsors, speakers, and volunteers) must honor when participating in any and all SHPE activities and/or events.
Breaches of these Rules are subject to disciplinary action, and may result in ejection, disqualification from participating in future live and virtual SHPE activities, and other appropriate penalties determined by SHPE. These Rules are not intended to be all inclusive. SHPE reserves the right to identify other prohibited behaviors not listed below:
Violations of these Rules include but are not limited to the following:
Harassment, physical or verbal abuse, threatening physical harm.
Acting in a manner that endangers the health or safety of others.
Discrimination based on a person’s race, color, gender, religion, marital status, disability, or sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.
Disrupting portions of the event.
Failure to comply with directions of SHPE staff.
Unlawfully possessing weapons, narcotics, or alcohol; displaying weapons; and/or appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.
Sharing, posting or writing anything about SHPE or SHPE event participants that contains offensive, profane, derogatory, or sexually suggestive or explicit references.
Dissemination of nonpublic event information such as confirmations, weblinks, passwords, etc. or misuse of event-related technology.
No guests will be allowed.
The agenda has been designed to allow ample time between events. All attendees are expected to be on time and attend all pre-conference webinars and workshops.
Violation of the Rules
Attendees will face disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion the event without a refund, ban from future SHPE events, and/or notifying appropriate authorities, for accumulating three (3) or more demerits.
One (1) demerit for disrespectful behavior to staff, committee and presenters.
One (1) demerit for not following any of the above-mentioned required behaviors.
Two (2) demerits for aggressive verbal confrontation against any individual.
Total of Three (3) or more demerits results in immediate expulsion from the event.
SHPE will not be responsible for any expenses incurred in connection with any disciplinary action taken pursuant to these Rules.
The decisions of SHPE are final.
