    Story of the Month Submission

  • Do you have a story to tell?


    Every month, we feature a short story, comic or short narrative. Our goal is to provide a platform for emerging storytellers. 


    YOU retain the rights to YOUR work, while contributing to STCW’s body of optimistic, inclusive fictional stories. The sky is the limit! But do be aware of the following criteria


    To get featured, your story must:

    Be compelling
    Be fictional
    Have an optimistic worldview (you can be as real or realist as you’d like, as long as the worldview acknowledges the hope, positivity, and generosity that humanity is capable of demonstrating)
    Be creative
    Be under 3,000 words or the rough equivalent if multi-media or in a visual format (contact us if you are not sure)


    Your story should not:

    Be a manifesto, preachy, dogmatic or non-fiction
    Be offensive in a way that makes us question if you are pushing hateful narratives
    Lack perspective


    Your story could:

    Be published elsewhere, as long as you have the rights to publish with us
    Include images or videos, as long as you have the permissions to use them
    Be passed upon for the month you submit and still be published months later on this page

    • Contributor License Agreement Section 1  

    • I, the Author, acknowledge and agree that the files I have attached (the “Submission”) have been offered to Stories to Change the World by Alexis Mercedes LLC (the “Client”), for use on their website, STCWpublishing.com (“Story of the Month”), with license to produce, publish, and/or advertise the Submission as part of Story of the Month in perpetuity, royalty-free, so long as the Client gives credit to the Author and no significant changes have been made to the Submission. Images of the Submission may be used, with credit to the Author, for direct promotion of Story of the Month.

    • Copyright for the Submission belongs to me, the Author. Copyright of the Story of the Month, in its entirety, belongs to the Client. The Client shall use their best endeavors to ensure that the Submission is given full acknowledgement in any publication of the Blog, and promotion thereof. The Client may not license the Submission to any third party. I waive any and all right to money, royalties or other compensation for the Submission. I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Client, its affiliates and their respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees and agents from and against all claims, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees)in any action, claim or proceeding brought against the Client directly or indirectly by any other person (a) arising from my breach of this agreement, or (b) for any actual or alleged infringement of any trademark, patent, copyright, right of privacy, publicity, name or likeness, or any other intellectual property right of that other person, or misappropriation or unauthorized use or disclosure of any trade secret of another person, caused by me or the Submission.

    • I represent and warrant that: (a) I authored or otherwise created each of element of the Submission and each of the attached files is an original work of authorship; (b) I have full power and authority to license the Submission in accordance with this agreement; (c) the Client will, as a result of this agreement, have the unencumbered right to use the Submission for the purposes described above; (d) the Submission is free and clear of any claims, liens, or encumbrances; and (e) the Submission does not infringe or misappropriate the intellectual property rights of any third party.I acknowledge that I am eighteen(18) years of age or older or, if the individual contributing the Submission is under the age of eighteen (18) years, I am the parent or legal guardian of such individual and am signing below on their behalf and that such minor individual will be bound by all licenses, releases, consents and covenants contained in this agreement.
