  • Rider Information

  • Rider Ability

Skiers should be Advanced with the confidence to tackle a variety of terrain and conditions in new or variable snow. Snowboarders should be Advanced with the ability to traverse in powder snow, by following a broken ski trail. Snowboarders need to have the ability to carry enough speed in a straight line to cross flatter terrain.

Although we offer skiing on a wide range of slope angles, all participants should be able to confidently execute solid linked turns on black ungroomed runs and in powder. You should be able to comfortably ski/ride in most conditions including powder, hard pack, wind crust, and on a spectrum of slopes with varying steepness.

  • Rider Weight

Here at Helitrax we fly state-of-the-art aircraft, the safest in the industry to fly at the highest elevations, but your group's weight is still a factor. We require a groups average weight to be approximately 185 lbs/per person before clothes or equipment. This is to ensure the safest experience for our guests.  Please call us with any questions, 970.728.8377.

  • Do you want to use Telluride Helitrax skis or snowboard (free of charge)?

If you don't have powder-specific skis or snowboards, we highly recommend using our equipment. Our gear is designed to float in snow and turn more easily in variable conditions found in the backcountry. If you are unsure about what equipment to use, fill out the equipment information on this form in case you use ours.

Snowboarders: Our powder boards are larger to help you carry speed and cross terrain features without having to remove your board. Snowboards should be 5-10cm longer than your resort board and have a large, shoveled tip with a rocker profile. If using your own, we strongly suggest getting a fresh wax and moving the binding to the back of the board to raise the tip for maximum float and glide.

Skiers: Your skis should have a minimum waist of 100+ mm (we prefer a waist of 107-117mm) and should be 5-10cm longer than your resort skis.

We ask that you understand that certain elements of the experience are beyond our control, including weather, snow conditions and skier ability levels on a particular trip.

    ADVANCED DEPOSIT

Each day’s seat requires a 20% deposit at the time of booking. Seven days prior to your trip, full payment is required. In the event inclement weather prevents Helitrax from flying on your preferred or available dates, this advanced deposit is completely refundable.

    AVAILABILITY

We fill up to 16 seats daily. If conditions allow, we can increase the seating to 24.

    DAILY AVAILABILITY PRIORITY

Telluride Helitrax reserves the right to reduce available seating from 16, to 12, or 8 guests on any day. This decision will be occasionally made for operational reasons due to weather, avalanche hazard and/or snow conditions. We will make every effort to provide our clients 24 to 18 hours notice if they are going to be cancelled from a trip, though this decision may also be made as late as the morning of your trip date. These canceled seats will not be filled with other clients. These seats are cancelled and all Helitrax cancelled clients will be refunded 100% of their deposit. Seats are prioritized by the reservation date. If you would like to avoid being cancelled for the reasons stated above, please make sure to reserve your seat early and/or select a date that puts you into the first 8 reserved seats for a given date. All other seats over 8 are provisional and subject to this policy.

    WEATHER DAYS

As a reservation holder, you are required to remain available to heli-ski until noon on each of your available days. If your trip is canceled due to inclement weather, we will try to reschedule your trip on a space-available basis. Reservations are prioritized by confirmation date.

    CHANGES

No changes to your reservation can be made within 14 days of your reservation ski date(s), except at the discretion of Telluride Helitrax. Reservation dates can be changed at no charge up until 14 days prior to your reserved date based on availability. If we cannot accommodate your requested changes, you are still responsible for your originally scheduled dates. Reservations carried over to the next ski season are charged a 10% administration fee.

    GUEST CANCELLATIONS

Once a reservation has been made, your deposit becomes non-refundable. Less than seven days prior, full payment, including your deposit, is non-refundable. This policy is in effect whether or not we are able to operate on your cancelled dates. Guests absent, failing to complete a ski day, or who leave the field early for any reason, will be charged in full. In addition, those guest(s) may be charged for additional flight costs incurred to remove the guest(s) from the field and/or for shuttle fees to return the guest(s) to their respective accommodations. Excessively tardy guests cannot join the day and will be charged in full.
Due to the costly advanced commitments that Telluride Helitrax must make to provide our services, we cannot provide any refunds even in cases of sudden illness, injury, canceled airline flights, family emergencies or any other disruptions to your schedule. To offset this risk, we highly recommend obtaining Travel Guard or another brand of travel insurance.

    TELLURIDE HELITRAX CANCELLATIONS

If Telluride Helitrax cancels a ski trip before it begins, you will be refunded your entire deposit. If a trip underway is interrupted, the following percentages of the trip cost will be charged: 1 run: $395 | 2 runs: 40% | 3 runs: 60% | 4 runs: 70% | 5 runs: 90%.
If you wish to roll your reservation over to a later date in the same season, there is no charge. If you roll your reservation over to the next season, you retain the same dollar amount of credit toward a future reservation. Any rate difference between the initial reservation and the current rate on the date that the new reservation is made will be charged. If an entire season passes and no reservation date is made against a deposit, then that deposit is forfeited to Telluride Helitrax.
Telluride Helitrax reserves the right to cancel reservations for reasons including, but not limited to, weather, backcountry snow conditions, and number of participants. Reservations are prioritized by guest confirmation date.

GUEST PROVIDED WEIGHT AND ABLITY INFORMATION
It is imperative that you provide accurate information when filling out Helitrax Forms. If you provide inaccurate body weight information your group may be over our weight limit for the day. In this case, your group may be split up or one member of the group canceled from the trip in order for us to stay within our helicopter weight limits for the day. No refunds will be issued in this case. If you provide inaccurate information about your skier/rider ability level, Helitrax reserves the right to fly you out of the field with no prorated refund.

    GIFT CERTIFICATES

Gift certificates are valid for one year from the date of purchase. The actual gift certificate document must be presented in order to qualify for a reservation. A gift certificate may be rolled over for one additional year if the holder has actively made a reservation date with Telluride Helitrax, and the trip was then cancelled by Telluride Helitrax. There is no charge for this qualified, one-time rollover to the following heli-ski season. If no reservation is made against a gift certificate for one year, then the gift certificate is forfeited to Telluride Helitrax and becomes void.
