1. This 2.5+++ hour Summer Food Festival course is offered by Advocate Food Safety Solutions (AFS) and prepares food vendors to operate in compliance with applicable rules and guidelines for food handling. The course is virtually online and self directed. At this time, the course is only offered in English.
2. All class content has been provided by the city of Chicago and reconditioned by a former health inspector and certified food service manager. This certification is required for all vendors and food handlers handling food products at outdoor summer events. There must be a manager on duty who completed the Professional Sanitation Seminar for Summer Festival Food Vendors whenever food is being handled or prepared.
3. AFS Summer Food Festival Training course is hosted on a virtual online platform. No need to leave the house or office or get off the couch. This means that the food handler can take the course at their own pace. The course can be taken on any smart device and tracks all participants' footsteps while they are in the online course.
4. Once the participants have completed the online course with a 100%, the class roster will be sent to the city of Chicago for processing within 48 to 72 hours of course completion.
5. Please note the Summer Food Festival Vendor Certificate (SFFVC) takes 3 to 4 weeks to be processed by the city, there are no exceptions to this rule. All SFFVC must be renewed annually.
