• Advancing the Gospel Amid Conflict

    Text: Acts 15:36-41

    Main Idea:  While conflict is inevitable even among mature believers, it must be lovingly resolved to represent Christ well and for the advancement of the Gospel.

  • 1.     The Problem: Because we are all sinners, conflict is inevitable among even the most      Christians. 
     
    2.     The Personalities:       in personalities may often lead to conflict & even sin if we are not careful.

    • Often times a person’s greatest      may become an area of greatest weakness.
    • Since even the greatest saints will      us, we must always learn to put our primary trust in the Lord.
    • Unity doesn’t require us necessarily to work      . 

     
    3.     The Practice: We should work hard at resolving conflict so that we represent Jesus well &      the Gospel! (Matt 5:23-24, Eph 4:26, Heb 12:14-15)
     
    3 Principles:

    1. To be right with      we must strive to be right with others. (Matt 5:23-24)
    2. Conflict should be resolved as      as possible. (Eph 4:26)
    3. Unresolved conflict grows into      . (Heb 12:14-15)

     
    8 Practices:

    1.    before we speak. (James 1:19-20)
    2. Use our      carefully. (Prov 15:1)
    3. Be honest, but communicate      . (Eph 4:20)
    4.    about the needs of the other person. (Phil 2:2-4)
    5. Be willing to      . (Jn 15:13)
    6. Be willing to      . (Col 3:12-13)
    7.    others as Jesus sees them. (2 Cor 5:15)
    8. Strive to      Jesus well.
