Teachers Bursary Scheme
In 2018, we introduced teacher training bursaries as part of our charitable status and to further support our mission to maintain and improve teaching standards. The scheme directly benefits those wishing to become, or progress as a Society trained teacher in any genre. Bursary funds are allocated each year to provide support where finance may be a barrier, for teaching qualifications or to take part in courses, to ensure that dance teachers have the opportunity to invest in their own development and progress with their teaching journey. To date, the scheme has financially supported the training of over 100 teachers from countries across the globe, including the USA, Italy, South Africa, the UAE, the UK, and many more.
The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing offers financial bursaries to support the following:
- Initial Teacher Training (Diploma in Dance Education & Dancesport Associate)
- Higher Teacher Training (Diploma in Dance Pedagogy)
Applicants are advised to read the guidance notes available at https://www.istd.org/discover/funding-bursaries-and-awards/teacher-training-bursary-scheme/ to confirm their eligibility for the scheme before completing the application form.
