Foster Application Form for Cats, Dogs & Rabbits

Thank you for applying to be a foster parent for Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue. Since we don’t have a physical location and rely solely on foster homes, fostering is extremely important and allows us to continue with our rescue efforts.

Requirements

1. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.

2. CATS & RABBITS must always be housed indoors.

3. Applicants ideally are able to house their foster animal until they’re adopted.

4. Regular communication via text, email or Facebook is necessary.

5. Children cannot be the primary caregivers for the animals.

6. FOR RABBITS: A photo of the fostering setup is to be submitted (when ready) via email with the application.

7. Please inform us of any supplies you already have that would aid in fostering an animal.

8. We operate a strict NO DECLAWING policy for cats.

9. You are required to take GOOD, clear and bright photos of your foster pet. Please ensure you have the means to do so.

10. You are required to have access to WhatsApp on your mobile phone or laptop.

Rabbit Foster Agreement

The rabbit(s) will always have access to fresh water and hay and will be fed on the required scheduled basis.

I will keep the foster rabbit(s) away from any household pets unless I receive prior approval from the rescue.

I will house the foster rabbit(s) indoors at all times.

If the rabbit(s) require(s) veterinary attention or shows any sign of distress or illness, or if they’re lost or injured, I will contact Don't Furry, Be Happy immediately.

A member of Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue may contact me at any time to see how the foster rabbit(s) is/are doing and may arrange a home visit to check in.

Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue may remove the foster rabbit(s) at any time for veterinary care or other reasons.

I will not allow the foster rabbit(s) to be removed from the premises or give them to any third-party without prior consent from Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue.

The adopting of the rabbit(s) into a permanent home will be completed through Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue. I understand that I must refer anyone interested in adopting to Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue for further information.

My volunteer work involves contact with different breeds and temperaments of rabbits and there is a risk that I may be scratched or bitten.

I will inform the rescue immediately of any moderate to severe injury caused by a foster rabbit.

Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue is not responsible or liable for any damage or injury to any person or property caused by any rabbit(s) while in foster care.

The rabbit(s) I foster for Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue are property of the rescue and I do not own any of the foster rabbit(s) in my care. Ownership is only transferred after completing the adoption process through Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue and paying the adoption fee. Fostering does not guarantee approval for adoption.

I acknowledge that I have reviewed this Foster Care Agreement and understand and accept its terms. I also accept responsibility for the rabbit(s) while in my care.

By agreeing to foster in partnership with Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue, I agree to the following:

Pet’s Health and Disposition

Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue cannot guarantee the health or disposition of any foster animal. We do not have past records for these animals and there are some risks to your pets, yourself, and any individual living in your house associated with taking in foster animals.

I agree that family pets will be up-to-date on all vaccinations and foster pets will be kept isolated from family pets, for a minimum of 14 days for the protection of all animals.

I agree to be fully responsible for the safety and well being of the foster pet.

I will provide a safe, loving, humane environment with adequate food water and shelter at all times.

I will adhere to all provincial and local animal laws.

I will promptly notify Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue of any signs of illness, behavioural issues or concerns, an inability to continue to foster, if the pet become lost, and/or if the pet bites someone.

I understand that all veterinary appointments must be arranged through Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue.

I understand that all unauthorized veterinary appointments or purchases will be at my expense.

Should you decide to foster for another rescue while still fostering for Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue, please make Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue aware prior to this.

Transfer of Animals

Animals cannot be transferred to the custody of another person, shelter, humane society, SPCA, or other entity without prior consent and permission of Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue.

I agree to not place this pet in another home without the written or verbal authorization from Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue, whether it be temporary or permanent.

Return of Animals

All the pets in the Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue foster program are the property of Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue and must be returned at the request of Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue.

I agree that I am fostering this pet for Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue and that I do not have any right of ownership over my foster animal.

I further agree that Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue's rights in and to my foster pet are superior to mine.

I agree to provide the Authorized Representative, or his/her designate access to my home and property to check on my foster pet, at any time while I am in possession of my foster pet.

I agree that if I'm unable to foster the animal(s) anymore that I will return the animal(s) to Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue and try to give Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue a 2 week period to try and find another suitable foster for the animal(s).

Personal or Property Damage and/or Injury

I agree that accidental animal bites or other injuries to humans and other animals do occur, and agree to hold harmless and indemnify, and protect Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue from any claim or suit led by someone as a result of such incident. In addition, Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue will not be responsible if an animal should damage or destroy property belonging to the Foster Caregiver, the Foster Caregiver's household, or others, or if the animal shall transfer any disease, internal or external parasites to other animals and people in Foster Caregivers' household.

I understand that if I am approved for fostering, this declaration represents a legal contract between me as the foster home caregiver and Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue.

I understand that if I am approved to foster an animal, I must abide by this agreement and that this agreement applies to any and all animals that I foster with Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue.

Accuracy of Information

By adding my signature below, and sending this electronically, I acknowledge that I have completely read this questionnaire and comprehend it fully.

I acknowledge that the information provided on this application is correct to the best of my knowledge. If at any time the information I have provided changes, I will provide the updated information to Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue.

I understand that applying does not ensure approval and that untruthful answers or failure to comply with the requirements of this application can result in the forfeiture of any Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue animal fostered by me.

I agree to have Don't Furry, Be Happy Animal Rescue complete reference call checks and conduct a virtual/in-home visit inspection to be able to approve my foster application.
