A deposit of $100 per student is required upon enrollment.  The deposit cannot be returned prior to your child’s completion or withdrawal from the program.  If you like to withdraw your child from any subject, then written notice must be given by the 1st of the calendar month PRIOR to the month of the withdrawal. Once proper notice is received, the deposit may then be applied towards the final month’s tuition if and only if the student has been enrolled in that particular subject for a minimum of 12 months. Note that requesting a month's time-off as described in TIME OFF section below (with no-work and no-tuition) cannot be used towards notice period.

In the event, notice is not provided to the Center Director in writing or your child is withdrawn from the program within the first 12 months of enrollment, the deposit will be forfeited. The deposit will also be forfeited if any assessed service charge is not paid.

For 9th graders and higher, non-refundable tuition for one year is required upon enrollment.

    5. SUBJECT  SWITCH  FEE

A subject switch fee of $30 is required for switching subjects. The request to switch subjects must be submitted in writing (via email) by the 1st of the calendar month. The switch occurs at the beginning of next month.

    6.  CENTER HOURS

Students attend classes twice a week. Classes are held on:

Mondays & Thursdays:  3:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Students typically spend 20 to 30 minutes per subject. You are asked to please select a specific class time slot upon enrollment. Class time slots are every half hour.  Please note that dual subject students must arrive no later than 6:00 PM and single-subject students must arrive no later than 6:30 PM.  Late arrival will result in work exchange.

Please adhere to the assigned class time that is given at the time of enrollment.  Class times are assigned to ensure that our classroom does not become overcrowded.  In turn, this will allow our staff to assist your child more effectively.  If you need to change your child’s class time, please notify the center manager.  We will try our best to accommodate your request.

The center is closed on the popular Federal holidays, Spring break week, Thanksgiving week, and the last two weeks of the year for winter break. We provide homework for these days unless you request us not to do so. There is no prorated tuition for the above closure dates.

    7.  CLASS WORK & HOMEWORK

Your child will be given Kumon work for an entire week on Mondays unless otherwise noted by you.  This policy allows for more flexibility in your family’s schedule.

Your child’s work will be dated and should be completed on the assigned date.  However, if for some reason your child is unable to complete his/her worksheets on the assigned date, please have him/her resume the work with the first missed assignment.  This will mean that the dates written at the top of the worksheets will no longer apply.  However, the numbers written at the top of the worksheets do still apply and it is important that your child continues with his/her work in the assigned order. Please note that some worksheets may be repeated.  This is planned by design, so please have your child complete the repeated worksheets in the assigned order.

    8.  MANDATORY GRADING, TIMING, AND CORRECTING AT HOME

Home grading and home correcting are mandatory for all Math levels 7A through D and all Reading Levels.  Home grading for Math levels E and higher are encouraged.  Your child should make all corrections at home PRIOR to class.

Prompt home grading and correction will allow your child to learn more effectively from his/her mistakes since the problem will still be fresh in his/her mind.  When your home to grade, you are also letting your child know that you are a partner in his/her Kumon success.  Accurate timing, prompt home grading, and completing all corrections prior to class will allow your child to focus on new material while in class, thereby allowing him/her to advance more rapidly.

    9.  INCLEMENT WEATHER

In the event of inclement weather, we may find it necessary to cancel classes.  If the weather appears to be too poor that it would make travel dangerous, you are asked to please call the Center (813-909-9122) after Noon to verify if there will be a class that day. On these rare occasions, students may be exempt from their regular Kumon classwork. There will be no make-up classes and tuition remains the same.

    10.  TIME OFF

If your child needs to take time off from any Kumon subject, please adhere to the following procedure.  Please note that Kumon's corporate policy allows a student only ONE month off from a single subject for a calendar year.  Any time off beyond that will require a new placement test, registration fee, materials fee, and deposit. Please submit written notice to the Center Director by the 1st of the calendar month PRIOR to the month of the requested break.

Please also understand that time off affects your child’s progress.  It also disqualifies your child from the Kumon Honor Roll within that quarter and it may cause your child to forfeit any Kumonplus points that he/she may have earned.

    11.  TRANSFER OR WITHDRAWAL

If you would like to transfer your child to another Kumon Center or you would like to withdraw your child from the Kumon program entirely, please adhere to the following procedure.  Please submit written notice to the Center Director by the 1st of the calendar month PRIOR to the month of the requested transfer or withdrawal. For example, if you don’t want to do Kumon in the month of March, cancellation requests through email (lutzlakecrossing_fl@ikumon.com) must be received on or before February 1 st . Additionally, the requested transfer or withdrawal MUST be after a minimum of 12 months of enrollment in each subject. Otherwise, the deposit will be forfeited. Note that requesting a month's time-off as described in TIME OFF section above (with no-work and no-tuition) cannot be used towards notice period.

    12.  VACATION

Vacation homework requests must be submitted in writing at least one week in advance or earlier if possible. Please state the beginning and return dates on your request. You may choose to change the number of worksheets in your child’s Kumon workload during your vacation time.  However, we strongly recommend that your child do homework daily to maintain the continuity of his/her learning development.

    13.  ILLNESS

Kumon understands that students get sick. If your child has a fever, is coughing excessively, has a runny nose, strep throat, or any other transmittable illness, please do NOT bring him/her to the Center.  As a rule, if your child does not go to school due to illness, then he/she should not go to Kumon that day too.

    14.  MISSING CLASS

Please leave a message at the Center (813-909-9122) on the class day if you are unable to get your child to the Kumon class and would like to pick up homework instead.  Please leave a message by 6:30 PM on Mondays & Thursdays.  We will NOT call you back unless you need us to call back.  We will make sure that your child’s work is placed in the outside pick-up box before we leave for the day.

    15.  CONDUCT

If your child’s behavior becomes hazardous and disruptive to the class operation and to other students, you will be responsible for that behavior. Kumon is a place of learning; it is NOT a place for behavior modification. Continuously serious misbehavior may result in suspensions or permanent dismissal from the Center.

    16.  PARENT’S CONDUCT AT THE CENTER

We recommend that you wait for your child while he/she is working on his/her assignment. We cannot be held responsible for any child left unattended.  Please wait in the waiting room while your child is in class.

Please refrain from entering the classroom unless it is absolutely necessary.  Unnecessary traffic through the classroom is a major distraction to our students.  The water fountain and restroom are primarily designated for the use of our students and staff.  Please only use these amenities if it is urgently necessary.

    17.  SAFETY

Because the Kumon Center is located in a busy shopping plaza, it is extremely important that you please accompany your child when he/she walks through the parking lot to and from the Center.  Additionally, your child should be instructed to wait in the waiting room for you in the event that you are not there in time to pick him/her up.  We cannot be responsible for your child once he/she has left the classroom.

    18.  NO MAKE-UP CLASSES

If a class day coincides with a holiday, the Center may be closed and there will be no make-up class. Instead, we will provide homework for the missing class day(s).  In some months, there may only be 6 classes, but in other months, there may be 9 classes.  Tuition is the same regardless of the number of classes in a month.

    19.  CONTACTING THE CENTER DIRECTOR

If you would like to speak with Center Director, Kumon of Lutz – Lake Crossing Center Director, please leave a message at the Center (813-909-9122) or send an e-mail to lutzlakecrossing_fl@ikumon.com, or complete a conference request form and give it to the Center Manager.  Unless it is an urgent matter that concerns your child’s immediate Kumon work, the Center Director will contact you during non-center hours.  This policy will help to minimize the level of in-class distractions to our students.
