Library Internet Use: When the number of individuals desiring to use a computer exceeds the number of computers available, priority will be given to students requiring the use of a computer and/or the Internet for class dated assignments.
Netiquette: Individuals should abide by the generally accepted rules of the network (Internet and Email) etiquette. These include, but are not limited to the following:
-Do not type in all CAPS - this is the equivalent of shouting. -After reading something that makes you angry, allow yourself a cooling off period before replying. Think before you send something that you might later regret -Be brief. -Do not use inappropriate or offensive language. -Do not plagiarize another person's work. -Do not send chain letters, advertisements or junk E-mail. -Do not use sarcasm in correspondence. Sarcastic remarks generally come across as obnoxious remarks. Remember that the recipient cannot read your body language.
Safety: Parents with their son/daughter should discuss the following safety rules with respect to Internet
-Students should not give out personal information such as address, telephone number, parent's work address or telephone number, or the name and location of the school without parental permission. -Students should tell their parents immediately if they come across any information that makes them feel uncomfortable. -Students should never agree to get together or meet someone that they "meet" online without first checking with their parents. -Students should never send anyone their picture or any other item without first checking with their parents. -Students should not respond to any messages that make them feel uncomfortable, and should tell their parents immediately if they receive any such message.
Privacy: Users shall have NO expectation or privacy regarding files stored on school-based computers or disks. Electronic messages and files stored on school-based computers or stored outside of school using the District's Internet account are deemed to be property of the District. Consequently, users should not have any expectation of privacy with respect to their messages and files. The System Administrator and his/her designees may review files and messages to maintain system integrity and insure that users are acting responsibly.
The following list includes examples of inappropriate Internet use: 1.Searching for, accessing, submitting, posting, publishing or displaying information by means of the Internet and/or Email containing any of the following topics(unless the topic is a research assignment authorized by a teacher) -Pornography and/or sexually oriented material -Gangs -Illegal Drugs -Violence or weapons -Bomb making -Profanity -Racism
-Human or Animal Mutilation -Satanic Themes and/or Cults -Militants and/or Extremist Individuals or Groups -Gambling -Alcohol -Tobacco
