Thank you for your interest in Blue Prints Dog Studio Training Services! Before you fill out our application, we'd like you to know a little bit about our training methods:
Blue Prints Dog Studio uses the science-based training techniques of Positive Reinforcement (R+). These techniques allow us to teach your dog behaviors without adding stress or creating negative associations with certain factors in their environment.
Positive Reinforcement is rewarding your dog the moment they perform a desirable behavior. When we reinforce these behaviors, we increase the likelihood that the dog will repeat the behavior. Your dog decides what is rewarding for them! Sometimes it’s food/treats, and sometimes it is other resources such as attention, movement, toys, etc.
It is our goal at Blue Prints to strengthen the relationship between dog and owner by building trust and reinforcing the right decisions. We do not encourage adding stress or outside negative stimulus so the dog fears making the wrong choice.
Blue Prints Dog Studio does not practice the use of positive punishment or negative reinforcement. This includes the use of tools such as prong collars, e-collars, spray bottles, penny shakers, etc. If it makes your dog fearful, we do not use it in training to change behavior. It is our belief that use of these punishment techniques hinder the relationship between dog and owner and can lead to other behavioral issues.
If you are currently using any of the previously listed tools, but are interested in making the switch, please include this in your application so we have an accurate training history. Using these tools concurrently with our training can cause confusion for the dog and lead to stronger undesirable behaviors.
