  • Research Area Definitions:
    Basic Science: undirected, investigator-initiated research that aims to uncover fundamental knowledge about pathogens
    Infrastructure/Unspecified: research that the respondent is unable to further categorize;
    Diagnostics: preclinical or clinical trials of diagnostic technologies and algorithms;
    Drugs: preclinical or clinical research on treatments and treatment strategies ;
    Vaccines: preclinical or clinical research on vaccines; and
    Operational research: research evaluating new and/or existing tools and strategies for control of infectious diseases to guide their effective implementation. This may include randomized trials, surveillance, and epidemiological and observational studies.

    2.            Reporting organization: name of the organization filling out the survey.

    3.            Funding organization: name of the organization where the funding originated (the original source funder).

    4.            Project title: title of the project.

    5.            Abstract: abstract describing the project (if available).

    6.            Project number: number used by the institution to award or track the project (if available).

    7.            Project start date: when the project begins.

    8.            Project end date: when the project is expected to be completed.

    9.            Currency: currency in which funding is being reported.

    10.         Amount disbursed 2020: number indicating the amount of money disbursed/expended on the project in 2020 only (i.e.g, not total project costs).

    11.         Research area: select from the dropdown menu the research area that best describes the project.
