ONGOING CALL FOR WRITING
Open to: Queen's University Students
Deadline: Ongoing
UNION GALLERY invites Queen's University students to submit writing proposals throughout the year. Students must be studying at Queen's University, or proposals must include collaboration with Queen’s students.
We welcome pitches and proposals from student writers interested in producing relevant and engaging texts in the form of essays, exhibition reviews, creative non-fiction or short, narrative works. Written works should be informed by your own research, creative or personal interests, and can be in response to current exhibitions and programs at the gallery. We want to hear your ideas!
Pitches should be between 150-300 words and take the form of a short description or abstract. Let us know how long you anticipate it will take you to finish writing the final piece, and if you are pitching your idea to other publications simultaneously so that we can get back to you within an appropriate time frame. Compose your pitch outline using the same tone in which you will write your final piece. Use your pitch to show us what kind of writer you are. We are always interested in original thinking, under-told stories and marginalized voices. Submissions will be juried on a rolling basis by a student-majority Selections Committee Chaired by the gallery Director.
If you have any questions, or require accommodations during the submission process, please reach out: ugallery@queensu.ca / 613.533.3171
