McColl Center's internship program offers direct experience working at Charlotte’s first and longest-running artist residency program and contemporary art space. If you are a college-age student interested in learning more about how artist residencies operate or are considering a career in art, visual arts, art education, art administration, or museum studies we encourage you to apply.
Internship Description and Duties
- Work interdepartmentally with McColl Center Staff with both day-to-day tasks as well as long term projects based on skills and interests. This could include:
- Working with the marketing department to create + edit content and design flyers or posters for events.
- Assisting with art handling and installation.
- Helping the programs department set up and prepare for workshops and other programs.
- Assisting the Philanthropy Officer with donor related projects such as managing databases, planning events, and writing newsletters.
- Work alongside Artists in Residence and Studio Artists on works and/or projects.
Qualifications
- Interest in a career in the arts, marketing, philanthropy, or non-profit management.
- Ability to communicate in an effective and timely manner.
- Maintain trust and professionalism within the organization.
- Ability to take initiative and an excitement to learn new skills and tasks.
- Commitment to working 8-10 hrs per week in office for the length of the internship.
Compensation
- McColl Center's internship program is currently unpaid. However intern candidates will be awarded credit for either one month of co-op membership or one/two McColl Center workshops (co-op only with approval from Programs Director).
The Summer 2024 Session runs from June 3, 2024 to August 9, 2024. The application deadline for Summer 2024 is May 3, 2024. Applicants will be contacted for interviews by May 6, 2024.
