  • CycleSafe workshops are not traditional skills-based rodeos. Instead, they teach important safety concepts, using fun, age-appropriate discussion, demonstrations and activities to reinforce learning. Participants will have a chance to practice what they have learned throughout the session.

Please choose the program that best describes your child's age and experience level.
  • Workshop 1 – Getting Rollin’
    GRADE 1–2/AGES 5–7 – 30 MINUTES
Gettin' Rollin’ is designed to build a foundation of basic cycling and helmet safety knowledge by delivering instruction around proper helmet fitting and hand signals.

    Workshop 2 – Predictable Pedaling
    GRADE 3–4/AGES 7–9 – 90 MINUTES

Children of this age are more likely to be starting to ride a little further from home, so it is timely to start introducing the various situations they may encounter and have to safely manoeuvre through. These include:

    • Stopping Safely
    • Riding on Different Terrains/in Different Weather
    • Being Predictable
    • Communicating with Other Road Users/Shoulder Checks
    • Eyes Up/Scanning for Hazards

    Workshop 3 - Safely Navigating
    GRADE 5–6/AGES 10–12 – 2 HOURS

Children of this age are likely riding alone and on the road with traffic. This is a time when they need to be hyper-aware of, and know how to handle, various situations that they will face while riding.  These situations include:
    • Right of way & Merging
    • Hazard scanning
    • Target Fixation and selective attention/inattention blindness
    • Edge riding, parked cars, “take the lane”
    • How to fall safely
