This is the 4th year for the Austin County Fair to offer Horticulture Contests. There will be Miniscapes and Container Plants. The Horticulture competition at the fair IS FUNDED COMPLETELY BY DONATIONS.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GROW THE CONTEST! WE ARE INCREASING THE CONTEST BY 8 MORE TROUGHS, TAKING US TO 32! The average cost of a trough and soil is $200. Please see the various sponsorship levels listed below.
Contests consist of Juniors (3rd to 8th grade) and Seniors (9th to 12th grade) in Container Plants and Miniscapes. Buckles and awards are provided to all four groups. Four buckles are awarded for container plants Grand and Reserve Champion in both Junior and Senior Divisions. Eight buckles are awarded for Grand and Reserve Champion teams of two for Miniscapes.
1. Miniscapes contest consists of a total of exhibitors (individuals/teams) arriving with their tools and plants to create a miniscape in a provided container, within a three (2) hour timeframe.
2. Container Plant contest is an individual entry per exhibiter. These competitors arrive with the plants they have cultivated over the past eight weeks and a completed project log.
Included in your sponsorship is your name and/or the name of your company will be listed on a large banner that will be displayed at the fairgrounds during the fair. Each child writes a handwritten thank you required at the end of the contest. If we are fortunate to have any extra money in the budget at the end of the fair, we purchase a small gift to distribute to our Sponsors as an additional Thank You!! We are incredibly mindful of your donation and use 100% of the amount donated to run the contest for the youth!
