  • Applications for the DEI Scholarship are reviewed by members of the AMS Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Applicants are considered on the basis of official verification of acceptance into the Emerging Leaders, 3 letters of recommendation, financial need (documented), and a compelling personal statement.

    Timeline

    Completed online application materials must be received by AMS no later than September 25, 2021, at 12:59 PM. Incomplete application materials will not be considered.

    Scholarship recipients will be informed via email by November 8, 2021.

    • Financial Statement
    • U.S. applicants: 2020 Federal Income Tax Form (for security reasons, please black out your social security number) unless you have not filed please submit your 2019 Federal Income Tax Form. International applicants: equivalent documentation.

  • Write a compelling personal statement (max. 1,000 words) explaining your reasons for requesting financial assistance. Be sure to include the following:

    • Your full name
    • Explanation of your financial need
    • What you hope to achieve as an AMS teacher educator
    • Why justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion are important to you and how you plan to implement this in your teaching
    • How might you engage in/demonstrate leadership in the AMS community in the future

    U.S. Applicants: Please attach a copy of pages 1 and 2 of your 2020 IRS Form 1040 or 1040-A. If you used IRS 1040EZ, include only page 1. Important: For security purposes, be sure to black out your Social Security number before scanning.

    International Applicants: Please include equivalent documentation of income. Please also provide financial information on the next pages in U.S. dollars and include the conversion rates at the time of your submission.
