Dr. B. Jean Walker Educational Scholarship
This Scholarship was initiated in 2008 in memory of Dr. B. Jean Walker who dedicated her life to educating students. She served as the Cumberland Valley School District's Superintendent from 2003-2007. Dr. Walker's vision and leadership will guide the district well into the future.
The CV motto,"Soaring to Greatness; Committed to Excellence," captures the essence of her life's work and personal philosophy.
Scholarship Award:
- One-time award of $1,500
- Awarded to a senior that plans to pursue a 4-year degree in Education
- Based on academic achievement and required essay
- Announced at the annual Senior Awards Ceremony in May
- Check will be written jointly to the successful student and academic institution, which will be sent to the student requesting endorsement, who will forward the check to the appropriate school/university’s financial aid office for credit to the student’s tuition account
- Monies must be applied toward tuition at a post-secondary institution
Scholarship Recipient Criteria:
- Senior at Cumberland Valley High School
- Declare intention to earn an Education Degree at a 4-year institution
- Proof of acceptance at a 4-year educational institution prior fund distribution
