Bornstein Application 2021-22
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando’s Jerome J. Bornstein Leadership Program is designed to develop future leaders for the Central Florida Jewish Community. Past graduates of the program have gone on to serve on boards and hold top leadership positions in Jewish organizations locally, nationally, and internationally. The yearlong program, which commences in February 2022, includes monthly in-depth sessions, each devoted to a different leadership skill; one overnight Shabbat retreat; and a group capstone project.
EXPECTATIONS
Participants must attend all sessions and retreats. A gift to JFGO’s Annual Campaign, at a level that is personally meaningful, is expected. Upon graduation from the program, each participant will announce involvement with his or her selection of a local Jewish organization at the board, committee, or volunteer level, depending on the individual and the needs of the organization. Participants who demonstrate exceptional leadership commitments and abilities may be eligible for certain subsidized travel opportunities under the Jewish Federation of North America’s Leadership Development umbrella.
CRITERIA
Applicants must show leadership potential and a commitment to the Central Florida Jewish community; must have demonstrated civic or community engagement; do not plan to relocate out of Central Florida; and must complete an online application, which includes two references. An in-person interview is also required. The program is designed for professionals in their 30s and 40s.
FEE
The Bornstein program is heavily subsidized by generous donors. Accepted applicants pay a fee of $360, which covers all program expenses, including the overnight retreat (double occupancy). The fee can be paid at once or through a monthly payment plan. Financial aid is available. Your completed application must be submitted by 5 p.m. on January 1, 2022.
