SLSQ and its members are committed to saving lives and continually working towards its vision of ‘zero preventable deaths in Queensland public waters’. Surf Life Saving Queensland(SLSQ) is the State’s peak beach safety and rescue authority comprising of 58 surf life saving clubs, 80 lifeguard services and close to 35,000 dedicated individuals (volunteers and staff).
The Surf Life Saving Queensland Bravery Medal (SLSQBM) has been introduced to members of the association and/or the community who have who selflessly put themselves in jeopardy to protect the lives of others.
Bravery or courage differs from fortitude in a crisis situation. Bravery is a deliberate choice to go from a place of safety to danger or remain in a perilous position to provide help.
