• PIOUS-Dr. Farooq I. Selod Scholarship Application for MA in Islamic Studies

    In Fall 2022, TISA is launching a special merit-based scholarship program for students. The funds for this scholarship were donated by PIOUS under the leadership of our beloved former Board Treasurer, Dr. Farooq I. Selod, who died in May 2020. Please review the eligibility criteria listed below before applying for this scholarship.
  • Eligibility Criteria:

    1. The student must be a Muslim belonging to the "Ahle Sunnah Wa Jama'at".

    2. Applicants must demonstrate formal understanding of the basics of Islamic studies needed to study at the graduate level through graduation from a TISA recognized program or through an assessment by a TISA faculty member.

    3. The student must complete the TISA admission application and be approved by the Admissions Committee.
    4. The student must fulfill the academic requirements set by TISA Academic Council (a B- or better in all courses).

    5.  After successful completion of the courses and after acquiring the diploma, the graduate must commit to serving the Muslim community in a leadership capacity within North America for a period of 2 years. This service can be volunteer or paid for a minimum of 20 hours per week.

    6. Students must take at least 2 courses per semester in the Fall and Spring.  In addition, students may apply the full scholarship to courses in the summer terms.

    • Having a PIOUS-Dr. Farooq I. Selod Scholarship does not preclude students from applying for other financial aid/scholarships.
