Future Majority is hiring this summer for Field Organizers positions this fall to have thousands of conversations with young people in their community about the impacts of climate change and how to take meaningful action. We are looking for candidates with community ties who are willing to work and live in Scarborough, Mississauga, Cambridge or Kitchener from August 30th to December 3rd. After receiving a week-long specialized training in organizing and climate change, you will embark on building and managing a volunteer team that will join you in educating young people on climate change. Through the power of face-to-face conversations you will play an instrumental role in deepening public awareness of the climate crisis and mobilizing meaningful climate action in your community.

Public Conversations through Canvassing and Presentations:
Talk to thousands of young people in your community about climate change. These conversations will happen in public spaces, at doorsteps, and on post-secondary campuses. Moreover, you will conduct presentations for classes and community organizations. You will be mobilizing young people to learn more about climate change and share educational online tools with their networks.
Volunteer Management and Recruitment:
Recruit, train and manage a team of 15-20 volunteers from your community. Run volunteer meetings, develop leaders, and train volunteers on canvassing, communicating about climate change effectively, and recruiting new members.
Track progress in order to measure and analyze the overall impact of campaign actions. Work closely with your manager to plan and work through challenges.
What we’re looking for:
Demonstrated commitment to educating the public about climate change.
Experience recruiting for and leading a team, project or group.
Highly organized self-starter with serious initiative, time management and prioritization skills. Experience managing volunteers is an asset.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Able to communicate effectively to an audience aged 18-34. Should enjoy public speaking and be able to confidently lead online webinars of up to 50 people.
Workstyle that is solutions-oriented, respectful, collaborative and nimble.
Must be flexible to work some evenings and weekends, with advance notice.
Are able to work independently
and receive constructive feedback.
Proficient computer skills
including Microsoft Excel, Google Suite and volunteer management skills.
No organizing experience is required.
