GENERAL OBLIGATIONS – WINGU ACADEMY
1. While the Learner remains registered with Wingu Academy, we undertake to exercise reasonable skill and care in respect of his/her/their education and welfare within the limits of our curriculum offering (our Blended learning offering including online courses, live classes, formative and summative assessments). This obligation will apply during academic hours and at other times when the Learner is participating in activities organised by Wingu Academy.
2. We shall monitor your learner's progress at Wingu Academy. We will advise you if we have any concern about the Learner’s progress, but we do not undertake to diagnose any learning disabilities or other condition. Weekly notifications are sent to learners for overdue tasks, and if tasks are not submitted within a week, a notification to the parents are sent to inform them to take note. It remains the responsibility of the legal guardian to ensure that learners are motivated and up to date in the home. Wingu Academy supports the parent to do this by means of the weekly notifications, a parent monitor login and access to the Subject Heads for advice. Weekly consultation times provide an opportunity for learners to obtain additional academic support.
3. The parties further take cognisance of the limitations of Wingu Academy’s physical environment, especially the fact that it is an online academy that teaches through electronic medium only. We have established measures to mitigate against system failures, which will make it unlikely that our schedules will be interrupted by power outages, but remain dependent on general electricity and data providers in order to teach and cannot guarantee continuous classes at all times.
4. All classes will however continue, and be recorded, despite communication breakdowns. These, together with other classes and Masterclasses, will be made available to Learners should the classes be interrupted through system failures on the part of Wingu Academy or the Learner.
5. Wingu Academy would further arrange extracurricular activities that will enrich the learning environment of our learners, as and may be accommodated in an online environment.
6. Although our system includes facilities and resources that may be utilised to provide high-quality education to children with special educational needs (whether due to neurological barriers, hearing impairments, visual barriers, physical barriers, behavioural or emotional barriers or any other medically assessed special need) our teachers, tutors and lecturers are not specialists in this field but will strive to assist these Learners to the best of their ability.
7. If, however, it becomes apparent, in the reasonable opinion of the Head of the Academy, that Wingu Academy cannot, or can no longer, provide adequately for a Learner’s specific educational needs, Wingu Academy may not offer enrolment with Wingu Academy or may cancel this contract in terms Wingu Academy's Cancellation Policy.
