This virtual internship was first launched in Winter 2020 as a result of the cancellation of our regular internship that includes traveling to Uganda. We believe that internships are an important and enriching part of students' university experience as they provide students with real-world experience, facilitate meaningful connections and build key skills that will support them in pursuing their careers.
That is why our program is adapted to the current context through a virtual internship program that fulfills our mandate to provide students with a valuable international learning experience, by incorporating them into a multi-cultural virtual workplace.
CEED Concordia interns, in partnership with CEED Uganda interns, will develop and facilitate practical workshops for high school students in Gulu to improve their skills in ICT.
The objectives of this project are the following:
Building basic ICT skills among Ugandan youth (i.e. Basics in ICT, Micrsoft Word and Excel, and Coding with Python)
Leveraging new technologies in the benefit of the teenagers’ education and personal development
Bridging the gap between youth growth and needs for technical skills in ICT in Uganda
Strengthening skills and providing a platform for cultural exchange between Ugandan and Canadian interns
