Katy Adventist Christian School Internet Policy
Our aim for Internet use is to further educational goals and objectives. Unfortunately, some pupils may find ways to access unsuitable material. We believe that the benefits to pupils in the form of information resources and opportunities for collaboration exceed any disadvantages.
Guidelines for using the Internet
Use the Internet only to support your learning or research for school-based work.
When using the Internet do not communicate with strangers.
It is unacceptable to use the facilities for the following:
Accessing sites that the school would regard as unacceptable, such as areas that are pornographic, racist, extremist or violent in nature. If in doubt, ask your teacher
Downloading or installing software onto school machines or disks
Printing unnecessary material - Get permission first
Using vulgarities, swearing, or any other inappropriate language
Trespassing in others' folders, work, or files
Plagiarizing others' work i.e. copying or pasting without noting the source
Failure to observe the school guidelines will result in a temporary or permanent ban on Internet use. Persistent or extreme misuse may lead to exclusion and, if applicable, police or other local authorities may be involved.
