We are in a climate emergency – recent floods, fires and landslides are caused by man-made carbon emissions from heating, cooking, transport, and we need to drastically reduce them over the next 10 years.
In 2019 Islington Council declared a climate emergency. Last year they published their Vision 2030 report which sets out how Islington could reduce its carbon emissions to net zero by 2030. Islington says its mission is "Creating a clean and green Islington in response to the Climate Emergency."
Many Islington residents have not heard of the Vision 2030 report. So, an alliance of concerned community groups and individuals have created the Islington Environmental Emergency Alliance (IEEA). The IEEA aims to tell people about the council’s plan for reducing carbon emissions. We want to make sure that Islington keeps the promises they have made.
