  • Thank you for your interest in the Noyce Teaching Scholarship! This application is for current undergraduates (either current SCSU students, or students who will transfer to SCSU) who have declared a major in science or mathematics and plan on also completing the course work necessary for secondary (Grade 7-12) science or mathematics teaching certification.

    If you are a graduate student, or future graduate student applying for the Scholarship, please go back to the SCSU Noyce website and follow "Pathway 2".

    If you are currently a high school student who is interested in attending Southern and earning the Noyce Scholarship, please contact us directly at owlsteach@southernct.edu and tell us a little about your interest!

  • Faculty Reference: Please provide the name and email address of at least one faculty member who can speak to your potential as a future science or math teacher.

  • Enter a personal statement in which you reflect on all of the following. 

    • Your interest in teaching in a high-needs school,
    • The knowledge and skills you believe are necessary to be an effective science or math teacher in a high-needs school, and,
    • The beliefs and experiences related to science/math teaching that you will bring to the OwlsTeach program and how these beliefs and experiences will help you become a leader of educational change.

    The Personal Statement must be typed using a Times New Roman or similar font, 12 point, single-spaced, and 500-750 words long. This Statement serves as a writing sample, so it is important to submit a carefully reviewed, spelling- and grammar-checked paper.
