    Conditions of submitting an EOI.

    • You must be registered as a coach to a club or school in 2026 
    • You must hold a current Community Coach (Level 2 Coach) Accreditation
    • You must be coaching a team in the 2027 Season
  • By providing your My Rugby ID Number we will be able to access your education history to ensure you are provided with the most appropriate courses, resources and support.

    All coaches should be registered with their club, school or association on Rugby Xplorer.

     

    Who is it for?

     

    The competitions and programs that Rugby Australia are targeting through the Emerging Talent Coach Program include:

    • Premier Rugby | Colts Premier Rugby | Director of Rugby

    • Representative Pathway Teams | Schools Representative

    • Regional Competitions – Senior representative

    • Women’s Rugby – Senior representative

    • Elite players transitioning from athlete to coach

     

    This is a (QRU) Queensland Rugby Union delivered and Rugby AU supported program.

    All applicants must be approved by RA before an offer is sent out with an offer of place.

    Minimum duration

                          12 months - Notional learning hours: 150 completed as monthly tasks and workshops

     

    Required Attendance

    Weekend One - 3-day Induction Workshop

    -        Friday night the 16th of October (6pm -10 pm)

    -        Saturday & Sunday the 17th & 18th (8:00am – 5:00pm) of October in Brisbane with the venue TBC.

     

    Weekend Two

    Qld Reds Home game - Brisbane Based - Dependant on the Reds Home Fixtures and venues in 2027.

    Likely February – April and likely Brisbane Based. You must be able to attend all block weekends to complete the course.

    The program also involves in-season mentoring (coach to coach mentoring) and support, so you need to be actively coaching to complete the work.

     

    Prerequisites

    ·       Over 21 years of age

    ·       Hold a Current World Rugby Level 2 Coaching or equivalent (Rugby Australia - Community Coach Accreditation) and be registered in 2025 on Rugby Xplorer as a coach

    ·       Attended a pre Level 3 Hudl training session or have working knowledge of Hudl as this Analysis Tool will be utilised during and post course.

    ·       Have a completed season diary

    ·       Willingness to commit to continual professional development beyond completion of this course.

    ·       Commitment to fulfilling a coach mentor role for future Member Union coaches.

    Sport Australia Community Coaching – Essential Skills Course

    On successful completion, the coach will be able to:

     

    Develop a personal coach profile
    Develop a game plan based on observation and analysis of specific opponents
    Outline a vision for their team

     
    Apply functional role analysis
    Assess current players and apply a selection process (player profile)
    Coach the following elements safely: Restarts; Continuity; Defence; Counterattack
    Develop a team profile (strengths & weaknesses of their team)
    Identify Critical Incidents in a game
    Develop a game profile (identifying and practising for the long-term)
    Plan and review a season
    Identify and practise specific tactics (patterns of play)
    Manage other coaching and ancillary staff

     
     
     

    Enrolment

     

    Course cost is $1,500.00 GST Inc. which includes a $50 accreditation fee
