Tattoo aftercare
To remove the film that I have applied, peel it gently in the shower. The water running on it will help loosen the glue.
Or remove cling film 1 hour after your appointment and clean.
1. Keep the tattoo clean and dry for the first week after getting it. Avoid touching the tattoo with dirty hands, and avoid soaking it in water for long periods of time. Showers are fine but no baths or swimming for at least 2 weeks.
2. You can start washing the tattoo (twice a day) with unscented/natural soap and warm water. Be gentle when washing the tattoo, and avoid scrubbing or rubbing it too hard.
3. Apply a thin layer of cream to the tattoo after washing it. Allow your tattoo to air dry for at least 15 mins first.
This will help keep the tattoo moisturised and prevent it from completely drying out.
Too much cream will promote scabbing, so do not apply too much. Every other day is perfect.
4. Avoid exposing the tattoo to direct sunlight or tanning beds for at least two weeks after getting it. Sunlight can cause the tattoo to fade or become discolored.
Once fully healed, always apply spf when exposed to harsh sunlight.
5. Don't scratch or pick at the tattoo while it's healing. This can cause the ink to become dislodged or cause scarring.
6.Be patient! It can take up to four weeks for a tattoo to fully settle in.
7.Aftercare is also important long term,
make sure to exfoliate (after the healing process) and moisturise your skin. This will remove dead skin cells and keep your tattoo looking fresh.
