The NZCF Foster Application Form

Thank you for offering to open your home to a cat in need for The NZ Cat Foundation (NZCF). Your fostering will make a real difference to their future life and happiness! We cannot save lives without fosters like you!

Please note that all foster cats and kittens are to be kept indoors at all times. So it is fine if you live on a busy road.

What NZCF Provides:

Ongoing support with any issues that arise with the cat.
All necessary supplies, including litter and litter boxes, food, cat beds and toys, dishes and water bowls as needed.
Payment for all medical care.
Marketing your foster cat when he/she is ready for adoption, and facilitating any introduction in your home to a pre-approved applicant.

Terms and Conditions of Fostering
I agree to the following:

By fostering these cat(s)/kitten(s), I am making a commitment to provide love, safety and care until they are adopted by NZCF to a permanent home.*

Yes

I understand that fostered animals belong exclusively to NZCF, and also understand that if I become unable to care for my foster(s) I will alert NZCF with as much notice as possible so a new foster can be found.*

I agree to return all foster(s) at once to NZCF upon request.*

I will provide a clean bed, scratching post/cardboard scratcher and toys and will let NZCF know if I need assistance with any of these items. I will make sure toys with strings and feathers, and similar objects, are only used with supervision as if swallowed it could require serious medical attention. I will scoop the litterbox at least once per day, make sure clean fresh water is always available.*

I must keep my foster cat(s)/kitten(s) indoors at all times, wearing it's NZCF collar and tag. I will make sure they can't get out (unscreened windows, loose screens, cat door, front door, etc.). If for any reason my foster(s) gets out, I will alert NZCF immediately.*

I will always transport foster(s) in a secure carrier, and will get one from NZCF if I don't have one. I will never carry my foster(s) in my hands/arms outside of my home.*

I agree to allow an authorized NZCF representative to visit my home to ensure the well-being of the fostered animal(s) and the suitability of the foster environment and the compliance with the terms of this Agreement if they wish to do so.*

Health and Veterinary Care

I agree to familiarise myself with what vaccinations and worm and flea treatment the foster(s) require and make sure they receive these on time from NZCF-authorised vet.*

I agree to administer any medications my foster(s) may need as instructed by NZCF, and will not treat with anything that is not approved by NZCF.*

I will alert NZCF IMMEDIATELY if my foster(s) is not eating, has diarrhea, vomits, is bleeding, is lethargic, feels unusually warm or cold, has nasal or eye discharge, is having difficulty breathing or breathing rapidly, or shows any other abnormal symptoms that could require medical attention. I will follow NZCF's direction for care or how to obtain veterinary services.*

I understand that all veterinary care must be pre-authorized by NZCF. Services obtained without authorisation or at a non-NZCF veterinary clinic may be my financial responsibility. If my foster(s) require medical attention, I will immediately alert my NZCF contact.*

If the foster sustains a life-threatening injury or illness, I agree to immediately seek emergency medical care at Lynfield Vets or an Emergency Pet Clinic. However, I agree to consult with a NZCF representative as soon as possible and before authorising any major medical procedures.*

Adoption

I understand that my foster cat(s)/kitten(s) must remain in my personal care until they are officially adopted (Adoption Application completed and Adoption Fee received) or moved to another NZCF foster. If I or someone I know is interested in adopting my foster(s), I will advise NZCF who will handle the adoption process and make all decisions.*
