The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) is authorized by the American Rescue Plan (ARP), Public Law 117-2, signed into law on March 11, 2021. This law includes aid to assist higher education institutions in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF III) includes aid for students. HEERF III grants can only be used for expenses from any component of a student’s cost of attendance and/or emergency costs due to the coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care incurred beginning or after March 13, 2020, the date of the declaration of the national emergency. Please note, in accordance with federal guidelines, Kankakee Community College (KCC) will prioritize grants to students with exceptional financial need. Funding is limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Assistance is considered without regard to race, creed, color, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.
