We have already started on the bridge construction.  The first bridge is basically done and nearly in place (we just need to do some fancy work with an excavator and backhoe to get bridge around the corner without taking out a half-acre of corn.  Thankfully Jerry McAlpine has offered to help us lift the 60+ foot long bridge up over the corn so we can make the corner and get it down the trail to the powerline.

The plan is when we go to make this jig move to pick up two more bridge structures that Jerry and Larry McAlpine have given to the club so we can get two more built.

Here are some pictures of the build of the first bridge!

We have had many generous donations and lots of new members join the club and we thank everyone for their help.

We had 4 bridge names purchased that really helped pay for the bridges, so a very special thank you goes out to Rad Powersports, Orcutt's Variety, M French and Sons Trucking, and John Hibbard who is memorializing his son John Russel Hibbard.

Great the meeting once again is at the Gold Crest Riders Snowmobile Club 32 Cates Road, Dixmont ME 04932

The meeting will start a 6PM (well at least the eating part)

We will do our best to get someone to open the club house by 5:30 for setup.

As it said its a potluck dinner.  If you are unfamiliar that is where you bring a dish, and everyone shares.  Please remember to bring something that can be shared and a way to serve it, IE: a serving spoon or fork.

The primary focus on the meeting will be the design of the 4 bridges that need to be built and the little bit of trail that needs to be cut.  Also, we will start to focus on connecting more trail.  We have set a goal to get to Newburgh Dysarts this year, which is obtainable if we can get several people involved in the project(s).

We will also be discussing a possible fund raiser and the grand opening of the new trail ride!

If you have never been no worries, we are an easy-going crew, and most people tend to enjoy the meetings.

Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday.  Don't forget to mark yourself as going so you will get a reminder from Facebook or put it in your phones calendar.

Yes, that is right we have 4 bridges to build to get the trail opened.  All these bridges are on the CMP powerline.  We have one between Route 9 and Route 7.  One between Garland Road and Hog Hill Road. One between South Road and the Dixmont Road AKA Masonic Road, and one on the other side of that same road.

We have secured the structures for the framework.  Larry McAlpine has provided us with 2 steel structures to place as bridges and Tim Boone has provided us with two mobile home structures.  The plan is to go get these structures this coming weekend to get the prepared to be welded if time permits anyway.  With any luck they will be ready to place by next weekend.  We will simply need to place them and then a crew will need to deck over them.  We are currently in a search for the decking, so if you have any leads on decking, please let a club officer know or message us on Facebook.

We also have 3 small trails that need to be cut.  With the right crew these should only take a few hours to get everything ready.

Once we finish this up everything is in place to open the trails!

This will likely be happening in the next week or two probably on the weekend but weekdays are a possibility or even evenings if people are available. Please check any that apply.

The filling in of the mud holes at the end of the Cates Road turned into an expensive project.  We brought in a little under 200 yards of rock to fill in the holes.  And were given a really good price on the material thanks to Trail Master Kyle’s connection with Hopkins Construction.

We really need to raise some funds to pay for the bridge construction and finish off the trails.  We need to raise about $2000 to finish building the bridges or we need to get a lot of labor and material donated.  If you can help with a donation or a sponsorship or just purchasing a club membership it really goes a long way to help the trails get open.

      Trail Adoption

Adopt a trail is a half mile of trail which will include a sign marker listing you as the trail contributor.  We will place a sign out letting riders know that you or your business has adopted this section of trail.  Adoptions are for a period of 3 years.  It's a one time donation for a 3 years per half mile.  You do NOT pay each year its a full 2 years for a half mile of trail. We will reach out to you pretty quickly after purchase to figure out what you would like us to do and to get details on how you would like us to post about it.
