  • Audition Form for Fauquier Community Theatre's Production of SHOAH in 2022

  • Audition Dates

    Fauquier Community Theatre will present the World Premiere of Dr. Harry Kantrovich's stage adaptation of the Holocaust documentary SHOAH in January and February 2022. Auditions are on Thursday October 21, 2021 from 7 pm to 10 pm. and on Saturday October 23, 2021 between 10 AM and 2 PM. Pre-registration is strongly recommended and you should choose ONE of the time slots listed below.  Auditions will take place at the Fauquier Enterprise Center at 4263 Aiken Drive, Warrenton (Vint Hill). Callbacks will be by invitation only, and will take place on Wednesday October 27, 2021 between 7 and 9 PM. Callbacks will be announced on the evening of Saturday, October 23rd; more information will be provided at auditions.  Not all roles will need callbacks; you may be cast even if you do not get a callback.
  • Plot Synopsis

    The production is based on the award-winning 1985 film documentary by French director Claude Lanzmann. The original 9-hour film has been condensed for the stage and includes interviews with Holocaust survivors, former members of Nazi organizations, and residents of communities near the death camps.

  • Audition Preparation

    Auditions will consist of readings from the script; the specific readings for various characters are highlighted in COLOR in the script linked at the bottom of this page. The script with readings will also be attached to the confirmation email you will receive after submitting the form. You are strongly encouraged to prepare in advance. Ability to speak with an appropriate accent is helpful but not required; see the character descriptions below.

    SHOAH will be presented on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays between January 21 and February 6th, 2022 at the Vint Hill Theatre on the Green at 4225 Aiken Drive, Warrenton, VA. Tickets for reserved seating are available online at www.FCTstage.org.

  • Rehearsals and Schedules for SHOAH

    Anyone cast may be required to attend 1-2 rehearsals per week prior to Load-in and 3-4 days during the two weeks prior to opening. In November, December and early January, rehearsals will be on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Fauquier Enterprise Center at Vint Hill (audition location). Cast members will also be asked to help with load-in and set build on Sunday, January 9th. A complete schedule will be available at the auditions. Tech weeks runs from January 12th thru 19th, with final dress rehearsal on January 20th. Evening performances will be on January 21, 22, 28 and 29 and February 4th and 5th at 7:30 pm. Sunday matinees will be on January 23 and 30 and February 6th at 2 pm. The set will be struck on Sunday February 6th, and ALL cast members are required to assist. You MUST commit to ALL rehearsals during Tech Weeks and ALL performances. Your availability for rehearsals will GREATLY influence your chances of receiving a part. Please LIST any prior commitments (regular or occasional) starting with the day after callbacks that may conflict with the rehearsal schedule.
  • Fauquier Community Theatre Policies

    Please note the following FCT policies:·If you are cast in SHOAH you are required to become a member of FCT if you have not already done so during the 2021-2022 season; the basic membership level is $25, but higher levels are encouraged. Payment is preferred to be made online, or a check payable to Fauquier Community Theatre may be given to the Producer. FCT has a zero tolerance policy toward sexual harassment and abuse and may conduct background checks.There is no smoking, vaping, drug use, or drinking alcoholic beverages at any time in the theatre, dressing room trailer, or any rehearsal location. You may not smoke or eat at any time while in costume, indoors or outdoors. Adherence to the policies of Fauquier County Department of Parks and Recreation and to those of our rehearsal hosts is expected of all participants.It is the responsibility of all participants to assure that all aspects of the production are conducted in a safe manner. Participation in this production is strictly voluntary. The participant agrees to hold harmless and indemnify Fauquier Community Theatre - Story Painters, Inc., its Board of Directors, employees, and associated representatives from any and all claims, judgments or settlements resulting from the participant’s involvement in any rehearsals or performances of this show.
