Sponsored by Farm Credit Inc and Eastern States Exposition
Purpose: To promote and encourage excellence in the Eastern Regional FFA through development of outstanding scholarship, leadership and supervised agricultural experiences in the following areas:
- Star Farmer - achievement in a production agriculture SAE
- Star Agribusiness - achievement in an agribusiness SAE
- Star Agricultural Placement - achievement in an agricultural placement SAE, either at an agribusiness or productional enterprise.
- Star Agriscience - excellence in an agriscience-based SAE (natural resources, research/experimentation or science-based lab). This program may be either in placement or entrepreneurial SAE
Objective:
- To recognize youth in the Eastern Regional FFA who have achieved the Star Award in their respective state for 2024.
- To educate the fair going public to the fact that agriculture and agribusiness is a vibrant part of the Eastern Region.
- To promote the work of agriculturalists in the Eastern Region.
Event Rules:
- Applicant must have received the Star Award in their respective state in the applied category.
- Application shall include (please submit in the following order):
- Big E FFA Stars Recognition Application
- Copy of American Degree application
- Resume
- Supplemental material at applicant's discretion (maximum 2 pages)
- All applications should be uploaded below on or before September 1, 2024.
- Applicant must be in attendance at The Big E on Saturday, September 14, 2024 for the program.
- Applicant must not compete in any other Big E FFA competition on Saturday 14, 2024. Please note: this may also conflict with other events during The Big E. Please be sure that you are aware of the FFA Star's schedule.
- Candidate must wear official FFA Dress during the interview.
Format:
- Each candidate will meet the judges in an informal interview on the morning of September 14, 2024. To further verify the applicants program and records at 8 am at the Grange Building. Date and time to be scheduled in advance.
- Teams of judges are selected to judge this event. They will each review copies of each candidate's application and records.
- Candidates will be available for publicity pictures with the sponsor at 11am.
- Candidates, parents, advisors and special guests are invited to the FFA Star Recognition Lunchon at 12 noon on the fairgrounds.
- The Star Award ceremony will take place before a large audience of fairgoers at approximately 3pm. (Circus Tent)
- All candidates are urged to attend the FFA Awards Recognition Program at 6pm at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Springfield, MA
Awards:
1. Each candidate will receive a participation stipend.
2. Each winning Star will receive an appropriate award from The Big E.
3. Each winning star will receive a receive $500 monetary award from the program sponser in addition ot their $250 participation stipend.
The application and awards do not relate to the winners of the Eastern Regional FFA Stars Program sponsored by the National FFA Organization.
Judge's decision is FINAL.
