MAKOMnj: A New Kind of Jewish Community
It may seem hard to believe but Rosh HaShanah begins on September 6th, the Monday of Labor Day weekend! This year MAKOMnj and Temple Beth Am of Parsippany will be joining together for High Holy Day Services. We are looking forward to welcoming you for both in-person and online synchronous holiday services. This year our in-person services will be held at the MetroWest Federation Building (the old JCC) in Whippany. All livestream login information will be sent once you have registered.
High Holy Day Reservation Details:
MAKOMnj has a fee for service model with suggested donation amounts for all our programs and services. For the High Holy Days, the reservation fee/donation amount is the same whether you attend one service or all services, in person or online via livestream.
$118 is the minimum suggested donation amount per adult 19 years and older.
Student Rates: Special rates are available for local college and graduate students. Please email us at info@MAKOMnj.org for additional information.
*Special Note: No one will be turned away due to financial hardship. If you are unable to contribute the minimum donation, please reach out to Rabbi Miller directly and confidentially at RabbiMiller@MAKOMnj.org
For Health and Security Purposes: All adults and children attending any High Holy Day services or programs need to be registered in advance. For security and health reasons, we cannot accommodate walk-ins. Covid Guidelines:
We will continue to follow all current CDC, NJ, and Morris County Health Department guidelines. Please understand that these guidelines continue to change, and we may have to change our plans. We will share any changes in our weekly emails and on our website.
If you are immunocompromised and unable to receive the vaccine, please reach out to Rabbi Miller RabbiMiller@MAKOMnj.org.
Filtration, Disinfecting and Social Distancing
The Federation building has an ion filtration system. All of the chairs are movable to ensure social distancing during services.
Multiple Ways to “Be Together” for the High Holy Days
The health and wellbeing of our community is our top priority. Based on what we know today about the Delta variant and in consultation with several medical professionals, at this time, only individuals who are fully vaccinated will be permitted to gather inside.
There are several ways to be able to “gather” for High Holy Day services this year. Everyone attending in person, whether inside or outside will be required to wear a mask.
Several of our services will be held in an outdoor tent space. When we have services held indoors, you will be able to live stream either at home or from inside the tent. In case of inclement weather, services in the tent many need to be held via live stream only.
