Death Benefit Fund
Every member, qualified and in good standing with Local Union 1593 shall be entitled to participate in the Local Union 1593 Death Benefit Fund.
The admission fee to the Death Benefit Fund shall be $10.00 a member. Upon the death of a participating member, a payment shall be made to the beneficiary named on the admission card of the deceased, which will be the amount of $10.00 per participating member. Any change or updating of the beneficiary is up to the participating member.
An assessment will be collected, from the membership of the fund, after a death benefit is paid. This amount will be $10.00 a member, with a two-month response time. If not responded to in this time, the participating member is no longer considered in good standing.
Should the Local Union decide to terminate the Death Benefit Plan, the termination shall be accomplished by removing the plan from the bylaws, in accordance with the amending provisions contained in these bylaws.
In such event, the money in the fund at the time shall be transferred to the General Fund of the Local Union.
Under no circumstances shall any money from any other funds of the Local Union be transferred or used to supplement this fund, or shall any money from this fund be used for any other purpose than outlined herein.
The Death Benefit Fund shall be audited in the same manner and at such time as the other funds of the Local Union are audited. This fund is not maintained under a written trust.
The ruling body shall consist of the Financial Secretary and the Executive Board of Local Union 1593.
